PurpleForge PvP
PurpleForge PvP is a combat system for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition designed around one simple idea: every weapon should give you a reason to use it.
Instead of turning combat into a race for whichever item has the highest damage number, PurpleForge PvP gives different weapons their own abilities, strengths, weaknesses, and playstyles.
Swords can parry. Spears control space. Axes commit to powerful overhead attacks. Tridents specialize in pursuit. Maces gain new ways to create aerial opportunities. Even tools like hoes, pickaxes, and shovels can become legitimate parts of a PvP loadout.
The result is a combat system built around experimentation, positioning, timing, and player-created tech rather than a predefined combo list.
Weapon Abilities
Different weapons serve different purposes.
- Swords — Parry: Time a defensive window correctly to punish incoming melee attacks.
- Spears — Brace: Hold your ground and punish enemies who rush into your effective range. Spears also reward accurate tip-distance hits.
- Axes — Overhead: Commit to a powerful heavy attack with strong displacement and punishment for missing.
- Tridents — Surge: Close distance quickly and stay on fleeing opponents.
- Maces — Vault: Launch yourself upward to create new smash opportunities without requiring convenient terrain.
- Hoes — Hook: Pull enemies out of position and create openings for yourself or teammates.
- Pickaxes — Expose: Temporarily make an opponent more vulnerable to follow-up damage.
- Shovels — Sweep: Control space by knocking nearby enemies away from you.
- Bows — Focus: Commit to a firing position to prepare a stronger precision shot.
- Crossbows — Impact Shot: Prepare your next projectile for additional disruption and knockback.
- Shields — Perfect Guard: Time your defense for stronger protection and counterplay.
- Fishing Rods: Function as real positioning tools instead of just being carried for tradition.
- Wind Charges: Enhanced for movement, displacement, escapes, engagement, and combo potential.
PurpleForge PvP does not contain a hardcoded combo system.
The abilities are designed to interact naturally, allowing players to discover their own techniques and combinations through experimentation.
Materials Change Your Playstyle
Weapon materials are no longer just a straight progression toward Netherite.
Each material changes how PurpleForge abilities behave.
Wood is lightweight and forgiving, but weaker.
Stone is rougher and more forceful.
Copper favors frequent ability use and technique-focused play.
Iron is the balanced baseline.
Gold provides extremely fast ability cycling and powerful techniques, but enhanced abilities consume additional durability. Gold can be incredibly strong while it lasts.
Diamond favors speed, precision, and consistency.
Netherite is designed as a mastery tier.
Netherite abilities generally have longer cooldowns and tighter execution requirements, but successful use produces the strongest results. A skilled player may consider Netherite a direct upgrade, while another player may perform better with Diamond, Gold, or another material.
There is no single material intended to be the correct answer for every player.
Designed for Different Playstyles
PurpleForge PvP is built around horizontal combat variety.
A Sword player and Spear player should approach the same fight differently.
A Gold weapon user may rely on frequent, aggressive ability usage while burning through equipment. A Netherite user may wait for one precise opportunity and receive a much larger reward for succeeding.
This also applies to team combat.
Abilities such as Hook, Sweep, Expose, Brace, and ranged pressure can interact with teammates in ways that create strategies without requiring predefined classes or roles.
If players discover a combination the addon never explicitly tells them to use, that is intentional.
Fully Configurable
PurpleForge PvP is designed to work on more than one kind of world.
World and Realm administrators can configure almost every part of the combat system through an in-game settings menu.
Open the configuration menu with:
/scriptevent pfpvp:config open
Settings are stored per-world, meaning two worlds using the same copy of PurpleForge PvP can use completely different balance configurations.
Administrators can modify or disable individual abilities, weapon recovery values, ability cooldowns, timing windows, knockback, material behavior, Gold durability costs, HUD options, Wind Charge behavior, ranged mechanics, and many other parts of the addon.
The default configuration represents the intended PurpleForge PvP balance, but server owners are free to change it.
Additional commands:
/scriptevent pfpvp:config status
/scriptevent pfpvp:config reset
Survival Friendly
PurpleForge PvP is intended to work as a complete survival combat system rather than only as a minigame or PvP arena addon.
Durability matters.
Inventory space matters.
Weapon choice matters.
Terrain matters.
Vanilla mechanics such as enchantments, armor, projectiles, Riptide, mace smashes, and normal survival progression continue to exist alongside PurpleForge's systems.
The goal is not to replace Minecraft combat with an unrelated RPG combat system.
The goal is to give Minecraft's existing items more mechanical identity and create more meaningful decisions during a fight.
Player-Discovered Tech
PurpleForge PvP intentionally does not provide an official combo guide.
Players are encouraged to experiment.
Use movement tools with weapon abilities. Combine utility items. Coordinate with teammates. Try strange loadouts. Find interactions the developers did not plan for.
If something works because several independent mechanics happen to interact in an interesting way, that is part of the design.
Learn the mechanics.
Then figure out what you can do with them.
