Reverse LifeSteal
Reverse LifeSteal flips the classic LifeSteal formula — killing costs YOU a heart, and dying rewards you with one. A chaotic PvP twist perfect for SMPs…

Reverse LifeSteal takes the beloved LifeSteal SMP formula that took over the Minecraft community and completely turns it on its head. In a traditional LifeSteal world, killing another player steals a heart from them and adds it to your own pool — the strong get stronger, and the weak get eliminated. Reverse LifeSteal does the exact opposite, and the result is one of the most chaotic, hilarious, and strategically deep PvP experiences you can add to your world.
The Core Twist
Every time you kill another player, YOU lose a heart, not them. Meanwhile, the player who just died is rewarded — the moment they respawn, they come back with one extra heart. This single flip completely changes how players approach PvP. Suddenly, going on a killing spree makes you weaker and weaker with every victim, while dying repeatedly makes you tankier and harder to kill. Bullies get punished. Underdogs get a real comeback mechanic. Nobody is safe, and every fight has real consequences no matter who wins.
This makes Reverse LifeSteal an incredible addition for SMP servers that want more balanced, dynamic PvP, for solo or duo challenge runs (imagine a "Manhunt" style video where the Hunter loses hearts every time they land a kill), and for any content creator looking for a fresh, meme-worthy hook for their next Minecraft video.
How It Works
The addon runs entirely through Minecraft's official Scripting API, so there's no lag, no command blocks, and nothing for you to manually configure in-game. Every player starts with the vanilla 10 hearts. When a PvP kill happens:
- The killer instantly loses 1 heart (down to a configurable minimum, so nobody gets locked out of the game).
- The player who died gets 1 heart added to their pool, which is applied the moment they respawn.
- Both players get on-screen messages and sound effects, and the whole server sees a broadcast announcing the heart-flip.
Hearts can go above the vanilla cap of 10, up to a maximum of 20, using the Health Boost effect under the hood — so long survivors can genuinely become much harder to take down.
Extra Features
- Craftable Heart Item: Players can craft a Heart item (8 Gold Ingots + 1 Golden Apple around a crafting table) and eat it to manually gain +1 heart — useful for admins rewarding players, or for events and mini-games.
!heartsChat Command: Type!heartsin chat at any time to instantly check your current heart count, no commands or permissions required.- Fully Custom Assets: Every texture, icon, and identifier in this addon is original and made from scratch — no reused or stolen content.
- Lightweight & Script-Based: Built on the modern
@minecraft/serverAPI for smooth performance even with many players online.
Installation & Requirements
- Download the
.mcaddonfile and open it — Minecraft Bedrock will automatically import both the Behavior Pack and Resource Pack. - In your world settings, enable both packs under Behavior Packs and Resource Packs.
- Turn on the "Beta APIs" experimental toggle (required for any addon that uses scripting).
- Load into your world — Reverse LifeSteal activates automatically for every player, no setup commands needed.
Compatible with Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.21.60 and above, and works great alongside other SMP, economy, or PvP addons.
