Hitting any part of a tree with an axe brings the whole tree down in Falling Minerals and Trees, dropping all of its wooden blocks at once. Mining works the same way: breaking one ore block shatters all the connected blocks of the same mineral.
That removes a lot of repetitive block-by-block work and leaves more time for other things in a world. Both behaviors apply as soon as the add-on is active. It needs Experimental Features turned on in the game settings to work, so enable them when creating or editing the world.
