uncap render distance
Java mod listed for Minecraft 26.x. Downloads from the MC Java Mods app on Android.
⬇ Download on ModrinthRaises Minecraft’s render distance limit from 32 chunks to 512.
Vanilla caps the client-side render-distance slider at 32 chunks (or 16 on low-RAM installations). Sodium uses the same limit, hardcoding its slider range to setRange(2, 32).
The server has a separate limit as well: ChunkMap.setServerViewDistance() clamps the configured view distance with Mth.clamp(viewDistance, 2, 32). This means that even if you manually set a higher value in options.txt, the integrated or dedicated server will still only send up to 32 chunks.
This mod removes all three limits:
- Raises the vanilla
Options.renderDistanceIntRangemaximum to 512 - Raises Sodium’s render-distance slider maximum to 512
- Raises the
ChunkMapserver view-distance clamp to 512
As a result, you can set any render distance from 2 to 512 chunks in Sodium’s settings, and singleplayer/LAN worlds will actually load chunks that far away.
Requires Sodium.
Esc/menu behavior and all other video options remain unchanged.
Performance note: Very high render distances—especially 256–512 chunks—can require substantial RAM and CPU resources. Start with a lower value and increase it gradually.
On multiplayer servers, the server must also allow a sufficiently high view distance. The client cannot render chunks that the server does not send.
