BaseScan
GriefPrevention base analytics and lag diagnostics
GriefPrevention base analytics and lag diagnostics
Find the claims and chunks that are hurting your server, without guessing.
BaseScan treats every GriefPrevention claim a player owns as a "base" and scans it for storage, entities, villagers, redstone and farms. It gives each base a 0-100 Base Health score, then shows the results in a clickable in-game GUI. Its per-chunk breakdown shows exactly which 16x16 chunk inside a large claim is causing the problem.
Features
- Base Health score (0-100) - configurable thresholds (Excellent / Healthy / Warning / Critical / Severe) and a plain-English "Problems" list explaining what is dragging a base down.
- Per-chunk breakdown - entities, villagers, hoppers and redstone tallied per chunk, worst first. Click a chunk to teleport straight into it.
- Detailed reports - Storage, Entities, Villagers (including notable enchanted trades), Redstone, Farms, Block breakdown and Problems.
- Farm detection - confidence-scored detection of iron farms, villager breeders, mob farms, crop / sugar cane / bamboo / cactus / pumpkin-melon farms and animal farms. It reports "Detection unavailable" rather than guessing.
- Scan history and trends - SQLite-backed history stores aggregate statistics only (never individual blocks). BaseScan flags meaningful changes, e.g. "entity count increased 177%".
- Server Overview and Top Bases - admin leaderboards across health, entities, villagers, hoppers, redstone and region size.
- Safe teleport - hazard-aware teleport into a base or a specific chunk.
- Player self-service - let players check their own bases with /basescan so they can fix their own lag before you have to ask.
- Fully configurable - scan limits, scoring weights, thresholds, GUI titles, sounds and every message (MiniMessage supported).
Built to be safe on a live server
- Scans are batched and asynchronous. The main thread is only used briefly to snapshot chunks and read entities.
- Oversized claims are refused rather than attempted (configurable limit).
- Concurrent scans are capped, and a claim can't be scanned twice at once.
- Every scan has a progress screen with a Cancel button.
- All database I/O runs off the main thread.
Commands
- /basescan or /basescan self - scan your own bases
- /basescan <player> - scan another player's bases (online or offline)
- /basescan server - server-wide overview
- /basescan top - top / worst bases
- /basescan reload - reload config
- Alias: /bscan
Permissions
- basescan.self - scan your own bases (default: everyone)
- basescan.admin - scan others, server overview, top bases, reload (default: op)
- basescan.teleport - use the teleport buttons (default: op)
- basescan.* - everything above
Requirements
- Paper or Purpur 26.2+
- Java 25
- GriefPrevention 16.x (Legacy)
Good to know
- Base Health is a diagnostic indicator, not a TPS measurement. It flags likely contributors to lag; it doesn't measure lag itself.
- Only claims a player owns outright are scanned. Admin claims are skipped, and subdivisions are included in their parent claim.
- Claims are scanned across the full world height, because GriefPrevention's reported vertical bounds are inconsistent.
- The GUI-driven commands must be run in-game. Only /basescan reload works from console.
- Server Overview and Top Bases run a live scan of every claim, which can take a while on servers with many claims.
Support
Found a bug or have a feature idea? Post in the discussion tab. For "no bases found" issues, enable griefprevention.debug-logging first and include the console output.
