Bright light burns you.
The opposite of Stay in the Light.
How it works
- Once a second (every 20 ticks) the pack checks the light level at every player's feet.
- If it's 8 or higher, the player takes 2 damage (one heart).
- It's the combined light level, the same one mob spawning uses: the brighter of block light (torches, lava, glowstone) and sky light, with sky light dimmed by time of day and weather.
- The damage is generic, so armor reduces it.
- Players in creative and spectator mode are ignored.
Limitations
- Daytime outdoors is deadly: sky light is 15, so standing in the open costs a heart per second. Caves, covered unlit areas and nights are safe.
- Respawning in daylight hurts right away, since spawn points are usually outdoors. You have about 20 seconds to reach shade.
Configuration
Both values are in data/stay_in_the_dark/function/step.mcfunction:
light:{light:{min:8}}is the threshold: damage starts at this light level.damage @s 2is the damage per hit.schedule function stay_in_the_dark:step 20tis the interval.
Run /reload after editing.
