CARTOGRAVER v1.0.0
Advanced Death Protection, Soul Storage & Lumina Guide System for Paper 1.21+
Developer: Temper
CartoGraver completely improves the default Minecraft death experience by protecting dropped items, preserving experience, and helping players return to their death location with a unique guiding spirit called Lumina.
Instead of leaving items scattered on the ground, burning in lava, falling into the Void, or disappearing after the default despawn timer, CartoGraver safely stores them inside a protected Soul Relic system.
It is designed for Survival, SMP, Adventure, RPG, and chill-focused servers that want death to remain meaningful without making item recovery unnecessarily frustrating.
---
LUMINA — SOUL GUIDE
After a player respawns, Lumina appears and guides them back to their death location.
Lumina is a small glowing spirit based on the Allay model and acts as a visual navigation companion.
Dynamic Movement
Lumina automatically adjusts its movement speed depending on how the player is travelling.
Supported movement includes:
- Walking
- Sprinting
- Jumping
- Horse riding
- Boats
- Elytra flight
- Other fast movement situations
When the player moves faster, Lumina speeds up accordingly.
If the player falls too far behind, Lumina stops and waits instead of disappearing into the distance.
Visual & Audio Guidance
Lumina can use visual effects and sounds to help the player locate it more easily.
This is especially useful in:
- Caves
- Mines
- Dark areas
- Forests
- Large terrain
- Nether environments
If the player becomes separated from Lumina, the spirit remains visible and waits for them to continue.
Cross-Dimension Support
CartoGraver supports deaths across multiple dimensions.
Lumina can assist players when their death occurred in:
- Overworld
- Nether
- The End
If the player must travel through a portal first, Lumina waits until they reach the correct dimension before continuing the route.
Player Interaction
Players can interact directly with Lumina.
Right-clicking Lumina triggers a small interaction with visual and sound effects.
Once the player reaches the protected death location, Lumina completes its task and disappears.
---
SOUL STORAGE SYSTEM
When a player dies, CartoGraver stores their dropped items inside a protected soul storage system instead of leaving everything scattered across the ground.
Item Protection
The system stores:
- Player inventory
- Equipped armor
- Elytra
- Offhand items
- Approximately 80% of the player's dropped experience
This greatly reduces the chance of losing valuable items because of Minecraft's normal item mechanics.
Owner Protection
For the first 10 minutes, the soul storage is protected for the original owner.
During this protection period, other players cannot simply steal the stored items.
After the protection period expires, the storage can become publicly accessible depending on the configured behavior.
Extended Lifetime
The soul storage remains available for up to 30 minutes.
This gives players significantly more time to return compared to vanilla dropped items.
Lava Protection
If a player dies inside lava, CartoGraver attempts to relocate the soul storage to a nearby safe position.
This prevents valuable equipment from immediately burning.
Void Protection
Deaths in the Void are also handled by the plugin.
Instead of placing the storage at an unreachable Void location, CartoGraver attempts to find a nearby safe position where the player can recover their items.
---
SMART ITEM RECOVERY
Players do not need to manually collect every individual item.
When the owner returns close enough to the soul storage, CartoGraver automatically restores the stored inventory.
Recovery can also be triggered through supported interaction methods around the storage area.
Automatic Equipment Restore
CartoGraver automatically attempts to place recovered equipment back into the correct slots.
Supported equipment includes:
- Helmet
- Chestplate
- Elytra
- Leggings
- Boots
- Shield
- Totem of Undying
- Other supported offhand equipment
This allows players to recover quickly without manually reorganizing their inventory while surrounded by enemies.
---
GRACE PERIOD PROTECTION
Immediately after recovering their items, players receive temporary defensive effects.
Default effects include:
- Resistance II
- Regeneration II
- Fire Resistance
These effects are intentionally short.
Their purpose is to prevent situations where a player recovers their inventory and immediately dies again because hostile mobs are still standing near the death location.

WHY CARTOGRAVER?
Vanilla Minecraft death can often become frustrating rather than challenging.
Items can:
- Burn in lava
- Fall into the Void
- Despawn before the player returns
- Scatter across large areas
- Be stolen by other players
- Become difficult to locate
CartoGraver keeps the risk of dying while making item recovery more controlled, immersive, and player-friendly.
Instead of simply teleporting items back to the player, the plugin creates a complete recovery experience built around protected soul storage and Lumina's guidance.
CartoGraver turns death recovery into part of the adventure instead of a race against item despawn.
