️ What is Murmur?
In standard Minecraft, the dark depths of caves are only dangerous because monsters spawn. But what if the darkness itself began eroding your mind?
MURMUR introduces a groundbreaking psychological horror mechanic based on Sensory Asymmetry:
- Individual Madness: Hallucinations, 3D audio illusions, and phantoms appear ONLY to the victim. Players standing right next to you will see and hear absolutely nothing.
- 100% Vanilla Client: Zero client mods, zero OptiFine, zero resource packs required. Works seamlessly out of the box!
- Folia Multi-Threaded Compatible: Built from the ground up for modern multi-threaded server architectures with zero lag.
The 5 Sanity Tiers

| Tier 2 | 25% - 49.9% | Panic | Orange | Flickering vanishing torches, fake chest/door openings, Phantom Creepers that rotate their whole body and lock eyes onto you before turning to smoke. |
| Tier 3 | 10% - 24.9% | Paranoia | Red | The Stalker Entity staring from corners (raytraced line of sight), rapid heart palpitations (Tachycardia), deep monster roars. |
| Tier 4 | 0% - 9.9% | Psychosis | Purple | Sensory blackout blindness, ear-piercing shrieks, fatal heart seizure damage if light is not reached in time! |
️ Survival & Catharsis (Staying Sane)
- Soul Sanctuary Lantern: Custom craftable item. Place it to emit a 16-block aura of psychological sanctuary where stress cannot grow.
- Chamomile Tea: Brewed with Honey Bottle + Oxeye Daisy. Instantly alleviates 15% stress and provides a comforting soul warmth.
- Restful Sleep: Sleeping in a bed deeply cleanses the mind (-30 stress/min) and freezes all hallucinations.
- Campfires & Music: Sitting near burning campfires or listening to Jukebox music calms the nervous system.
- Allies & Companions: Tamed dogs/cats and staying close to fellow players cuts isolation stress.

- /murmur status — Check your current Sanity, Stress %, and tier. (murmur.use)
- /murmur give lantern/tea <player> [amount] — Give sanctuary items. (murmur.admin)
- /murmur set <player> <stress> — Manually set stress level (0-100). (murmur.admin)
- /murmur reset <player> — Cleanse all stress and restore sanity. (murmur.admin)
- /murmur test <1-4> [player] — Test specific hallucination tiers. (murmur.admin)

Installation
- Requires Java 21+ and Paper / Purpur / Folia 1.21+.
- Download Murmur.jar and place it into your server's /plugins/ directory.
- Restart your server.
- (Optional) Install PlaceholderAPI to display sanity stats on Scoreboards, Actionbars, or Tablists.
- Customize plugins/Murmur/config.yml and messages.yml to fine-tune rates and texts to your liking!
