BlockExchange adds a player-driven stock market to your Minecraft server. Players use their normal server money to buy and sell shares. Their trades affect stock prices, and players can also use a website dashboard to view their balance, holdings, and charts.
1. Install and configure it
- Stop your server.
- Put BlockExchange-1.1.0.jar in the server’s plugins folder.
- Make sure Vault and a Vault-compatible economy plugin are installed and enabled. Vault connects BlockExchange to your economy; Vault alone does not provide money.
- Start the server. BlockExchange creates plugins/BlockExchange/config.yml.
- If you want the website, allocate a separate TCP port through your host’s control panel. The port must be allowed through the host’s network/firewall.
- Stop the server and edit the web: section of config.yml. Replace the example port and address with your host’s details:
enabled: true
bind: 0.0.0.0
port: 8179
public-url: ' http://your-server-address.example:8179'
If your host gives you a public port that forwards to a different container port, set port to the container/target port and put the public port in public-url. If there’s no port mapping, use the same port in both places.
- Save the file and fully restart the server. Check the console for a message saying the market dashboard is listening on the configured port.
2. Player commands
Players can use these commands in Minecraft:
Command What it does
/market list Shows available stocks and their prices
/market balance Shows the player’s server economy balance
/market portfolio Shows shares the player owns
/market buy <stock-or-symbol> <shares> Buys shares, for example /market buy emerald 2
/market sell <stock-or-symbol> <shares> Sells shares, for example /market sell EMRD 1
/market web Creates a private link to the web dashboard
/market help Shows market help
To use the dashboard, a player must be online, run /market web, and open the link promptly. The sign-in link is private, single-use, and expires after five minutes. Players can view their balance and portfolio, inspect charts, and trade on the site if they have the required permissions.
3. LuckPerms permissions
Player market permissions are enabled for everyone by default. Use LuckPerms to change access for a group or an individual.
Player permission nodes
Permission Allows
blockexchange.market.view View the stock list
blockexchange.market.balance View their balance
blockexchange.market.portfolio View their portfolio
blockexchange.market.buy Buy shares in game and on the website
blockexchange.market.sell Sell shares in game and on the website
blockexchange.market.web Create a website sign-in link and use the dashboard
For example, to let the default group buy and sell shares:
/lp group default permission set blockexchange.market.buy true
/lp group default permission set blockexchange.market.sell true
To prevent the default group from selling:
/lp group default permission set blockexchange.market.sell false
Website trades check the player’s buy or sell permission too. Changing a permission affects both the website and the matching in-game command.
Admin permissions
Admin commands are operator-only by default. The parent permission blockexchange.admin includes the admin command permissions. For more limited access, grant only the individual permission needed:
Permission Admin action
blockexchange.admin.addstock Add a stock
blockexchange.admin.removestock Remove a stock if nobody owns its shares
blockexchange.admin.setprice Change a stock’s price
blockexchange.admin.give Add money to an online player’s Vault balance
blockexchange.admin.setbalance Set an online player’s Vault balance
