Camper's Rest
Straw beds, campfires and cushions finally worth using.
Minecraft 26.3 added the straw bed and the cushion. Camper's Rest ties them together with the campfire into a small camping system that rewards you for actually setting up camp, and gives every one of those items a real use.
No mods, no resource pack: just drop it into your world's datapacks folder.
Features
🛏️ Straw bed
- Sleep through the night in a straw bed and you earn XP.
- The bed is used up, and 3–6 wheat drop where it stood. Turn the wheat into hay bales to craft new beds, or bake bread right away.
- Leave before the night passes and you get the bed back instead. Servers can switch this to wheat, which is a gentle way to deal with impatient (or trolling) players. No rewards are given when you leave early.
🔥 Campsite
- Place a lit campfire or soul campfire near your bed (4 blocks by default) and you get more XP plus Regeneration I when you wake up.
- Sleep around the same campfire with friends: each extra sleeper increases the bonus for everyone (+2 XP and +5 seconds of regeneration), up to 4 players.
🪑 Cushion
- Sit on a cushion next to a lit campfire and eat: you gain Regeneration, and the more filling the food, the longer it lasts (2 seconds per hunger point by default; bread gives 10 seconds).
- Your hunger bar works exactly as in vanilla. Nothing is "worth double".
🌍 Languages
- English, Português (BR), Español, Français, Deutsch and Русский are built into the data pack. No resource pack needed.
- Each player picks their language with
/trigger campersrest.lang set <1-6>(use7to list them). Server owners set the default language.
Installation
- Download the zip. Do not unzip it.
- Put it in your world's
datapacksfolder (for servers:world/datapacks). - Run
/reloador restart the world or server.
Requires Minecraft: Java Edition 26.3. Works in singleplayer and multiplayer and runs entirely server-side.
Configuration
Everything can be changed in-game by operators:
/scoreboard players set <name> campersrest.config <value>
#early_leave—0= leaving the bed early returns the bed (default),1= returns wheat#xp_base— XP for sleeping without a campfire (default 5)#xp_camp— XP at a campsite, one player (default 10)#xp_extra— extra XP per additional player at the same campfire (default 2)#regen_base— seconds of Regeneration I when waking at a campsite (default 20)#regen_extra— extra seconds per additional player (default 5)#limit— maximum number of players counted in the group bonus (default 4)#radius— maximum distance from the campfire to the bed or cushion, 0 to 6 (default 4)#meal_regen— seconds of Regeneration per hunger point of a meal at a campsite (default 2)#language— default language, 1 to 6 (default 1)#debug—1shows diagnostic messages in chat (default 0)
Shortcuts: /function campersrest:config/bed, /function campersrest:config/wheat and /function campersrest:config/view.
FAQ
Do I need a resource pack? No. Translations are inside the data pack.
Does it change or replace any vanilla files? No. It uses its own campersrest namespace and only hooks into the standard load and tick function tags, so it should coexist with other data packs.
Will it slow my server down? It is lightweight. The campfire search runs about once per second for each sleeping player, and only when someone eats while sitting on a cushion.
Does the game detect my language automatically? Not yet. Data packs cannot read the client language, so each player chooses it once with the /trigger command, and the server sets the default.
Why wheat when I leave the bed early? That is a server option (#early_leave). By default you simply get the bed back.
Translations
English and Portuguese (BR) are the reference languages. The Spanish, French, German and Russian translations are first drafts, and corrections are very welcome. Texts live in data/campersrest/function/lang/table.mcfunction.
