Create customizable scripts and trigger actions on your Paper server

Plugin name: VariableTriggers3
Prefix: VTV3
JAR file: VariableTrigger3-1.0.jar
Platform target: Paper 1.21.x–26.3
Java target: Java 21–25

Overview

VariableTriggers3 is a old scripting plugin (VariableTriggers) created by lyokofirelyte and updated by me with their contribution, that lets you create scripts and run them from player events, commands, block clicks, and other triggers. Configure scripts in YAML or use in-game commands to attach actions to specific block locations.

Features

Requirements

Installation
 1. Stop your server.
 2. Back up your existing plugin data folder.
 3. Place VariableTrigger3-1.0.jar in your server's plugins folder.
 4. Start the server and check the console for the VTV3 startup message.
 5. Plugin data and generated event files are stored in plugins/VariableTriggers3/.

Quick start: reusable script

Create plugins/VariableTriggers3/scripts/Welcome.script.yml:

Code (YAML):

Scripts
:
  welcome
:
    Script
:
     - '@PLAYER &aHello, <playername>!'
      - '@SCOREBOARD TITLE &6&lMy Server'
      - '@SCOREBOARD LINE 1 &fWelcome!'

Run it in-game with:

Code (Text):

/vt run Welcome:welcome

Quick start: click trigger

Hold a bone and enter each command below separately. When prompted, click the same target block with the bone each time:

Code (Text):

/vtc add @IF s <clicktype> = RIGHT_CLICK_BLOCK
/vtc add @PLAYER &aRight-click detected!
/vtc add @ENDIF

The trigger is attached to that specific block location. After setup, test it without the bone. Use /vt reload after editing trigger files manually.

Useful commands
Code (Text):

/vt ?                         Show main help
/vt core                      Show standard commands
/vt reload                    Reload scripts and trigger files
/vt run <file:script>         Run a script
/vts ?                        Script-management help
/vte ?                        Event-management help
/vtc ?                        Click-trigger help
/vtw ?                        Walk-trigger help
/vta ?                        Area-trigger help
/vtcmd ?                      Command-trigger help

Scoreboard directives
Code (Text):

@SCOREBOARD TITLE &6&lMy Server
@SCOREBOARD LINE 1 &fPlayer: &a<playername>
@SCOREBOARD LINE 2 &#12ABEFWelcome!
@SCOREBOARD REMOVE

Scoreboards support up to 15 lines. To update another online player, put their name after @Scoreboard, for example @Scoreboard Alex TITLE &6Server.

Inventory example

Create plugins/VariableTriggers3/inventories/shop.yml:

Code (YAML):

title
: '&6Shop'
slots
: 27
items
:
  '13'
:
    type
: DIAMOND
    amount
: 1
    meta
: 0
    name
: '&bPrize'
    lore
:
     - '&7An example item'

Permissions

Support and compatibility

This build targets Paper 1.21.x–26.3 and Java 21–25. Check the console for errors if a trigger or script does not run. After changing scripts or trigger files, use /vt reload.
