Overclock
Mob farms and item overflow eating your TPS? Overclock calms mob AI the moment lag hits and clears excess drops with a countdown, without breaking farms…

⚡ Overclock
Stop lag, not gameplay.
Mob farms, villager halls and item overflows are the biggest TPS killers on most servers. The usual fixes either delete everything on the ground or freeze mobs until your farms stop working.
Overclock takes a smarter approach. It watches your tick time live and steps in only when your server actually struggles. It slows the brains of distant and crowded mobs, and it cleans up item pileups, while farms, named mobs and valuable items stay untouched.
🧠 Smart Mob AI
- Only acts when needed. Overclock reads your MSPT every tick and switches between 🟢 Normal, 🟡 Warning and 🔴 Critical. While your server is healthy, it changes nothing.
- Distance and crowd aware. Mobs far from players, or packed into crowded chunks, think less often: every 2nd, 4th or 8th tick instead of every tick. Mobs near players keep full AI.
- Only the brain slows down. Pathfinding and target selection are throttled. Gravity, water streams, damage, despawning, breeding and growth all run at full speed.
- No stuck mobs. Throttled mobs wake in short bursts that always include a full decision step, so they never freeze in place or forget what they were doing.
- Instant wake-up. Hit, feed, trade with, leash or get chased by a throttled mob, and it gets full AI immediately.
🛡️ Farm Safeguard
Overclock is built to never break your players' builds. These always keep vanilla AI:
- 🏷️ Name-tagged, tamed and leashed mobs
- 🐄 Breeding animals and 🐷 bartering piglins
- 🧑🌾 Villagers in a trade, and villagers in general until the server is critical
- ⚔️ Mobs that are fighting or chasing a player
- 🚂 Mobs in minecarts and boats, and jockeys
- 🏗️ Mobs inside detected player farms. Hoppers, dispensers, beds and beehives are recognized automatically.
- 🔖 Anything you tag with
/tag <mob> add overclock.exempt
🧹 Ground Item Manager
- Hotspot merging. Identical dropped items near each other are combined into full stacks, but only in busy spots like iron farm collectors and sorter overflows. Nothing is lost; there are just fewer entities.
- Trims the excess only. By default, a sweep only touches chunks piled with more than 64 items and removes the oldest first. A few items lying around a base are never touched. Prefer a classic full clear? That's one setting.
- Players always get warned. A chat countdown runs before every sweep (60s, 30s, 10s, 5s...), and a summary follows afterwards. Sweeps run on a timer, start early when items pile up, or can be started by staff.
- Valuables are never deleted:
- 💎 Netherite, diamonds, shulker boxes, elytra, totems and more (fully configurable)
- 🛡️ All armor, plus renamed, enchanted and resource-pack items
- 🔌 Custom items from other plugins, matched by their data keys (e.g.
mmoitems:*) - ☠️ Death drops, protected for 5 minutes
- 🆕 Fresh drops younger than 60 seconds
- Other plugins are safe too. Shop displays and holograms are never merged or removed.
🧵 Built for Folia and big servers
- Region-aware on Folia. Each region is judged by its own tick time, so a lagging farm on one side of the map gets throttled while everywhere else stays vanilla.
- Thread-safe by design. Every mob, item and chunk is handled on the thread that owns it.
- No lag from the cleaner itself. Overclock never scans your whole world. Work is split by area and spread across ticks in small batches.
- Crash-safe. If the server goes down mid-throttle, affected mobs are restored automatically when their chunks load.

📦 Installation
- Requires Paper 1.21+ or Folia, running on Java 21.
- Drop the jar into your
pluginsfolder. - Restart your server. That's it!
❓ FAQ
Will it break my farms?
Overclock is designed not to. Physics-based parts (water, hoppers, redstone) are never throttled, important mobs are protected, and farm areas are detected automatically. You can also use /overclock pause to compare behaviour side by side.
Does it change anything when my server isn't lagging? Mob AI stays fully vanilla until MSPT rises. Item merging and sweeps only act on real pileups.
Is it safe to remove? Yes. Stop your server normally and delete the jar. Every mob gets its normal AI back on shutdown.
Does it work with Spigot? No. Overclock needs Paper or Folia.
