✨ NeonFX
Draw. Shape. Light.

NeonFX is a Paper plugin for creating editable 3D neon tubes, signs, shapes and lighting designs directly inside Minecraft.
Design smooth curves, straight lines, logos, decorative lighting and complex neon installations using a fully in-game visual editor.
No client-side mods required.
🟥 ALPHA SOFTWARE
🔴 NeonFX is currently in Alpha.
The core drawing, editing and rendering workflow is already available, while several advanced features are still under development. Features and behaviour may change between Alpha releases.
💡 Neon design, directly inside Minecraft
NeonFX is built around one simple idea:
Creating neon should feel like drawing it.
Instead of manually placing blocks, armor stands or hundreds of individual elements, NeonFX allows you to create editable vector-style designs directly in-game.
Create a Drawing, pick up the NeonFX Pen, place your nodes and shape your design visually.
Create with:
- ✅ Straight segments
- ✅ Smooth Bézier curves
- ✅ Multiple Tubes inside one Drawing
- ✅ ROUND and SQUARE tube profiles
- ✅ Adjustable tube thickness
- ✅ RGB / HEX colors
- ✅ Multiple layers
- ✅ Snapping tools
- ✅ Collision modes
- ✅ Reusable designs
- ✅ Interactive visual previews
✏️ Powerful visual editor
NeonFX includes a purpose-built in-game editor designed to make complex shapes manageable without external modelling software.
Edit your designs visually
- Add and move nodes
- Select individual nodes and handles
- Create and adjust Bézier curves
- Control IN / OUT handles independently
- Switch between straight and curved geometry
- Adjust tube thickness
- Change colors
- Change render quality
- Move elements between layers
- Create additional Tubes
- Undo and redo changes
- Save or cancel safely
The editor continuously previews the current path and the next segment toward your crosshair, helping you see the result while you work.
Bézier handles are also completely explicit: NeonFX will not automatically modify the shape of your curves behind your back.
🎨 Rendering quality
Every Drawing can use a different rendering quality depending on the balance you want between appearance and performance.
Available quality presets include:

| Quality: | LOW POLY | LOW | MEDIUM | HIGH | ULTRA | ORIGINAL |
|---|
Quality can be changed directly from the editor and saved with the Drawing.
🌈 More than static decoration
NeonFX Drawings can be controlled after they have been created.
You can modify:
- ⚡ Enabled / disabled state
- 🔆 Brightness
- 🎨 Color
- 🧩 Rendering quality
- ✨ Effects
This makes NeonFX useful for much more than signs.
It can be used for:
- Event builds
- Stages
- Clubs
- Attractions
- Theme parks
- Shops
- Server hubs
- Decorative environments
- Interactive installations
- Dynamic lighting designs
👥 Groups
Multiple Drawings can be combined into Groups.
Groups allow several NeonFX creations to be managed together instead of controlling every Drawing individually.
Perfect for larger installations where multiple neon elements belong to the same design or area.
📚 Design Library
Created designs can be stored in the NeonFX Library and placed again later.
Build something once and reuse it whenever you need it.
This is especially useful for:
- Logos
- Symbols
- Repeated decorations
- Sign templates
- Event designs
- Standard server elements
Community includes Library storage up to its configured default capacity, while Premium expands the possibilities of the Library.
💎 Community vs Premium
NeonFX includes a usable Community version with the complete core drawing experience.
Premium is designed for users who want more advanced creation, automation and import tools.

💳 Premium License: 9.99€ → 4.99€
One license unlocks the Premium functionality available for NeonFX under the applicable license terms.
💡 Not sure if you need Premium?
Start with NeonFX Community first. You can upgrade to Premium whenever you need SVG importing, text tools, freehand creation, advanced gradients, effect stacking or an expanded Library workflow.
📐 SVG Import
NeonFX Premium includes SVG importing.
SVG files can be placed inside:
plugins/NeonFX/import/
NeonFX converts supported vector geometry into an editable Drawing rather than simply placing a static image.
Supported SVG elements
pathlinepolylinepolygonrectcircleellipse
Supported paths include:
- Straight lines
- Cubic curves
- Quadratic curves
- Smooth curve variants
- Arcs
- Closed paths
SVG imports are opened as an editing preview first, allowing you to inspect and adjust the result before committing it.
🧩 Vanilla client compatible
Players do not need to install anything.
NeonFX runs entirely on the Paper server.
Players can join using a normal vanilla-compatible Minecraft client.
NeonFX uses Minecraft Display entities together with its own resource pack to render the neon geometry.
📦 NeonFX Resource Pack
NeonFX includes a purpose-built resource pack containing reusable models for its tube rendering system.
Instead of generating a separate model for every individual neon segment, NeonFX reuses its models and applies the required position, direction, length, profile and diameter through Display transformations.
This keeps the rendering system significantly more flexible.
Resource pack delivery options
Server owners can deliver the pack using:
- 🌐 Their own CDN
- 🌐 Existing web hosting
- 🌐 A reverse proxy
- 📡 NeonFX's optional embedded HTTP server
The plugin also provides diagnostics for checking:
- Generated resource-pack file
- SHA-1
- Delivery URL
- Embedded HTTP server status
If the NeonFX resource pack cannot be loaded, the plugin can continue operating using its fallback renderer.
🔒 Safe editing
NeonFX does not immediately overwrite the live version of a Drawing while you edit it.
Editing is performed using a working copy.
Your existing Drawing remains untouched until you explicitly save your changes.
If you cancel the session, the working changes are discarded.
♻️ Session recovery
Unexpected disconnect?
Server restart?
Editing interrupted?
NeonFX includes a recovery system for unfinished editing sessions.
Administrators can list available recovery data and resume an unfinished working copy without replacing the previously saved Drawing.
💾 Persistent storage
NeonFX uses SQLite for persistent data.
The plugin automatically creates and manages its files inside:
plugins/NeonFX/
This includes:
- Configuration
- SQLite database
- SVG import directory
- Recovery data
- Generated resource pack
🖥️ GUI & Commands
Most normal operations can be performed through the NeonFX GUI.
Open it with:
/neonfx gui
Main command:
/neonfx
Alias:
/nfx
NeonFX also provides commands for:
- Drawings
- Editing
- Tubes
- Groups
- Effects
- Library management
- SVG imports
- Recovery
- Resource-pack diagnostics
- Licensing
- Administration
🔐 Permissions
For simple server configurations:
neonfx.admin
provides access to the complete administrative feature set.
NeonFX also includes granular permissions for servers that want more control over who can access individual systems such as:
- Creation
- Editing
- Controls
- Groups
- Effects
- Timeline
- Library
- Imports
- Settings
- Reloading
Finished Drawings can be seen by normal players without requiring a special visibility permission.
🔌 Developer API
NeonFX includes a public Java API for integrations with other plugins.
Other plugins can obtain NeonFX through Bukkit's ServicesManager and interact with Drawings and Groups.
Drawing integrations can control:
- Enabled state
- Brightness
- Color
- Effects
- Drawing information
Group integrations can control:
- Enabled state
- Brightness
- Membership information
NeonFX also exposes events for systems including:
- Drawing creation
- Drawing deletion
- Drawing state changes
- Effect start
- Tube changes
- Timeline lifecycle
- Effect lifecycle
Internal persistence and renderer implementations remain private and are not exposed through the public API.
✅ Compatibility
