Obe's RPG Skills

Obe's RPG Skills

Get better at what you do. Everything you do in survival earns XP in one of nine skills. As a skill levels up, the gear you use for it gets enchanted, by you. Pick up any pickaxe and your Mining level puts Efficiency and Fortune on it. Hand it to a friend and it's their skill that counts.

Nine skills

• Mining, Woodcutting, Digging and Farming: from breaking stone and ores, logs and stems, dirt, sand and gravel, and fully grown crops.
• Combat and Archery: from damage you deal to mobs, with a bonus for the kill.
• Agility from sprinting on foot (not riding or gliding), Swimming from swimming, Defense from the hits you take.

Each skill goes up to level 30.

Enchantments bound to you

Skill levels unlock vanilla enchantments, a step at a time, up to their vanilla maximum and Mending at level 30:

• Mining: pickaxes get Efficiency, Fortune and Unbreaking.
• Woodcutting and Digging: axes and shovels get Efficiency and Unbreaking.
• Farming: hoes get Fortune and Unbreaking.
• Combat: swords and spears get Sharpness, Looting and Unbreaking; tridents and maces get their own enchantments; axes get Sharpness too.
• Archery: bows get Power and Flame, crossbows Piercing and Quick Charge.
• Defense: all armour gets Protection, Thorns and Unbreaking.
• Agility: boots get Feather Falling and Soul Speed, leggings Swift Sneak.
• Swimming: helmets get Respiration and Aqua Affinity, boots Depth Strider.

The enchantments are put on whatever gear you carry, and taken off again when someone else picks it up. Gear you enchanted yourself keeps its own enchantments: the higher level wins, and when two would conflict, the item's own is kept.

Perks

Your character level is the average of your nine skills. It unlocks permanent effects, each bought once with vanilla XP levels: Night Vision, Speed, Haste, Water Breathing, Regeneration, Resistance, Strength and Fire Resistance, up to Speed II, Haste II, Strength II, Resistance III and Regeneration III.

Extra hearts are bought with XP levels alone, in pairs, up to a full extra row of 10 hearts.

Perk effects show no particles, come back after milk or death, and step aside while a stronger potion lasts. Each one can be switched off.

Fair play

• Placed blocks give no XP, so you can't place and break the same block. Cobblestone gives nothing, and crops only count when fully grown.
• Players, armour stands and tamed animals give no Combat or Archery XP. Combat and Defense XP are capped per minute, and damage from the environment (falling, fire, drowning) gives a quarter as much Defense XP.
• Teleports and moving faster than you can run or swim don't count for Agility or Swimming.
• No XP in creative.

Menus

Type /skills to see your level and progress in every skill, each skill's unlocks, your perks, and "Inspect held item" for which enchantments on an item are its own and which are bound to you.

Works in single player, on Realms and on dedicated servers. You don't need to turn on any experiments.

Requirements

• Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.50 or newer.
