Tagify
Named mobs, but with nicer nametags.
Paper 1.19.4 - 1.21.x / 26.x | Free | Lightweight | No dependencies[/CENTER]
What is it?
Tagify swaps the plain vanilla name above named mobs for a text display, the same technique UnlimitedNametags uses for players. Your pets, bosses and farm animals get shadowed text, hex colors, custom backgrounds and size, instead of the old grey box.
It does that one thing and nothing else. Drop it in and every named mob on the server gets the new look, including the ones that were named long before you installed it.

Features
- Works with name tags and with mobs that already have a name (picked up when their chunk loads, nothing to migrate)
- Color codes (&a, &l...) and hex colors (&#RRGGBB) typed straight in the anvil, no permission needed
- Fully configurable look: format, background color and opacity, shadow, see-through, scale, billboard, view range and height per mob type
- Never modifies the mob: the name stays exactly as it was, so named mobs still don't despawn and other plugins still read their name
- Zero footprint: the tags are never saved to disk. Remove Tagify and everything goes back to vanilla
- Skips Citizens NPCs, MythicMobs / ModelEngine mobs and armor stands by default
- Hides the tag when vanilla would (invisible mobs, mobs carrying a rider). Riding a named horse works normally
- All messages editable in messages.yml
Built for big servers
- No task per mob. Everything is event driven, and the one worker task shuts itself down when there's nothing to do
- Work is spread across ticks, so loading a farm full of named mobs doesn't cause a lag spike
- The tag rides the mob, so the client moves it for free. No teleporting every tick, no packet spam
- No database, no files written while the server runs
Commands & permissions
- /tagify reload (alias /tg) - Reloads the config and redraws every tag - tagify.admin.reload (op by default)
Requirements
- Paper 1.19.4 or newer, or any Paper fork (Purpur, Pufferfish...)
- Java 17 or newer
- Spigot and Folia are not supported
