Obe's Quality of life
Less grind, same game. Adds the quality-of-life features you'd expect from a modded game, without new items to craft or new systems to learn. Chop a tree in one go, mine a whole vein, keep your farm planted, find your stuff after you die. It all costs what doing it by hand would.
Type /qol to pick the features you want. Every player chooses their own, and operators can switch features off for the whole world.
Gathering
- Tree feller: break a log of a tree with an axe and the whole tree above it comes down. Its leaves decay within a couple of seconds, dropping saplings, sticks and apples as usual. Felling from the middle leaves the stump. Log cabins and trees with placed leaves are safe: it only fells logs touching natural leaves. Works on crimson and warped stems and huge mushrooms too.
- Vein miner: break an ore with a pickaxe that can mine it and the whole connected vein comes out, deepslate ores included, up to 64 blocks. Fortune and Silk Touch apply to every block, and ores that give XP give it for every block.
- Both cost one durability per block (Unbreaking counts) and the same hunger as mining by hand. They stop before your tool breaks, leaving it on its last use. Drops and XP land where you broke the first block.
- Keyboard players hold sneak to use them; controller and touch players have them always on. Change it per feature in
/qol.
Farming
- Auto replant: breaking a fully grown crop replants it, using one seed from the drops. Wheat, carrots, potatoes, beetroot, nether wart and cocoa.
- Right-click harvest: use a fully grown crop with an empty hand or a hoe to harvest it without breaking it.
- Auto planter: saplings, seeds, nether wart and fungi lying on ground they can grow on plant themselves after 10 seconds. Great after a tree feller.
- 3×3 till: a hoe tills the 3×3 around the block. Sneak to till just one.
- No trampling: jumping on farmland doesn't trample it any more.
- Bonemeal more: bone meal grows cactus and nether wart.
Made for controllers (and great on keyboard too)
- Auto tool swap: start mining and the best tool in your hotbar is selected for you. It never picks a Silk Touch tool or swaps away from your weapon.
- Torch on use: use your pickaxe or shovel on a wall or floor to place a torch from your inventory.
- Hotbar refill: when a hotbar stack runs out, or a tool breaks, the next one moves in from your inventory.
- Quick stack: sneak and use a chest with an empty hand to put in everything it already holds.
- Sort: sneak and use a chest with a stick to sort it, or a stick in the air to sort your own inventory.
Safety
- Graves: when you die, your items go into a gravestone where you fell instead of scattering, and you get its coordinates in chat. Die in the void or in lava and the grave waits at the last spot you stood safely. Open it to get everything back in the slots it came from, armour included. For 10 minutes only you (and operators) can open it.
- Auto armour: pick up armour and it goes on, if the slot is empty or holds a worse, unenchanted piece. Never puts on cursed armour.
- Durability warning: a message and a sound when a tool or piece of armour is about to break.
Around the house
- Double doors: open one door of a pair and the other opens too.
- Ladder down: use a ladder on a ladder and it extends the column downwards.
Good to know
- Everything can be switched off.
/qolopens the menu: toggles and dropdowns only, so it's quick on a controller. Operators get a second page to switch features off for everyone. - Nothing is added to craft, and no vanilla recipe or item changes. The only new thing in the world is the gravestone.
- Graves only appear when keepInventory is off. Mob trampling is left to the
mobGriefinggamerule. - Works in single player, on Realms and on dedicated servers. You don't need to turn on any experiments.
