Sweep Impact
Java-style multi-hit sword sweeps for Minecraft Bedrock
Sweep Impact is a combat-focused Minecraft Bedrock Edition addon designed to bring the feeling of Java Edition sword sweeping into Bedrock gameplay. On Java, a well-timed sword swing can hit several enemies standing in front of you with a single attack. On Bedrock, that multi-target behavior is missing by default.
Sweep Impact closes that gap with a clean, script-based system that keeps combat readable and balanced. The primary target still takes normal Bedrock attack damage, while additional enemies inside the front-facing sweep area receive secondary damage, light knockback, and visual feedback.
How the sweep works
When a player hits an entity with a valid weapon, the addon checks the area in front of the player. Entities inside a short range and frontal arc can become sweep targets.
Enemies directly in front of you are easier to catch, while enemies far to the side or behind you are ignored. This keeps the system focused on a natural front-facing sweep instead of becoming a full-circle AOE attack.
A short internal cooldown prevents accidental repeated sweep effects from rapid multi-hit situations.
Supported weapons
Sweep Impact supports all vanilla swords:
- Wooden Sword
- Stone Sword
- Iron Sword
- Golden Sword
- Diamond Sword
- Netherite Sword
Axes are also supported, with slightly weaker sweep damage than swords of the same tier.
Damage model
Secondary sweep damage scales with weapon tier. Stronger materials create a stronger sweep, while Sharpness can further increase secondary damage.
The addon also reads common combat enchantments:
- Sharpness — increases sweep damage
- Fire Aspect — can ignite secondary targets
- Knockback — increases secondary knockback
- Smite — bonus sweep damage against undead mobs
- Bane of Arthropods — bonus sweep damage against arthropods
Your normal survival gear matters, so you do not need a special custom sword.
Visual and audio feedback
Every meaningful sweep provides readable visual and audio feedback. Lower-tier attacks use cleaner particle effects, while stronger weapons and enchantments can produce more noticeable impact effects.
Higher Sharpness levels and high-tier weapons receive stronger impact presentation, including more noticeable particles and combat feedback.
Crowd combat use cases
- Clearing doorways full of zombies
- Defending villagers during raid waves
- Fighting cave mob groups
- Handling Nether mob pressure
- Early-game survival combat
Because secondary damage is controlled, the addon helps with groups without completely removing combat difficulty.
Toggle control
You can temporarily disable the sweep system using:
!sweep
Use it again to turn the system back on. The toggle is handled per player.
Requirements and setup
- Import the .mcaddon file
- Activate the Behavior Pack and Resource Pack
- Enable Beta APIs under Experiments if required by the pack version
- Load your world and test with a sword or axe
The required scripting features depend on the Minecraft Bedrock version supported by the addon.
Compatibility notes
- Designed for survival and adventure-style combat
- Uses vanilla weapons and enchantments
- Does not require custom weapons
- Does not require an additional texture pack
- May conflict with other combat-rewrite addons
Balance philosophy
Sweep Impact is designed as a balanced combat enhancement rather than a screen-clearing AOE system. Primary target damage remains under normal Bedrock combat rules.
Sweep damage is limited by range, frontal arc, cooldown, and weapon strength. High-tier enchanted weapons should feel stronger without turning every encounter into an instant victory.
Performance approach
The script performs additional work primarily when a player lands a melee hit with a supported weapon. It does not continuously perform heavy entity scans for every player.
Target checks are range-limited and particle effects are handled safely to keep combat responsive.
What this addon is not
- Not an X-ray pack
- Not a kill aura
- Not an infinite-range AOE system
- Not a complete Java combat rewrite
It focuses on one specific combat feature: hitting multiple enemies in front of you with a well-positioned melee swing.
Recommended settings
- Enable the required scripting experiments for your supported version
- Test with groups of 2–5 enemies
- Compare unenchanted and Sharpness weapons
- Use
!sweepwhen you want normal single-target melee
