Wildlands Survival
The wild fights back. Wildlands Survival turns Minecraft into a real survival challenge. You have to stay hydrated, keep your body temperature in check and patch up your wounds, while four animated wilderness bosses hunt you across the biomes.
💧 Thirst
- A thirst bar drains over time. It drains faster when you sprint, when you’re hot, or when you’re in the Nether.
- Get low and you slow down and tire out. Hit zero and you start taking damage.
- Water bottles, milk, soups, juices, teas and some fruits all restore thirst.
- Craft a Canteen (leather + glass bottle) and fill it at any water. That water is murky and can make you sick, so boil it in a furnace or campfire first.
- Build a Rain Collector. It fills with clean water whenever it rains on it.
🌡️ Body Temperature
- Deserts and savannas are hot, snowy biomes and mountains are cold, and desert nights are freezing.
- Rain, snow, high altitude and swimming all cool you down.
- Too cold and you shiver, slow down and start freezing. Too hot and you sweat, get hungry, and can collapse from heatstroke.
- Campfires, fires, lava, furnaces, torches and the Cooking Pot warm you up.
- Leather armour helps in the cold. Hold a Fur Mantle or Sun Veil in your off-hand for extra protection.
- Warm foods like Hot Cocoa and soups heat you up. Iced Tea and Cactus Juice cool you down.

🩸 Bleeding
Heavy hits can leave you bleeding, and boss hits are even more likely to. Craft Bandages from plant fiber and paper to stop it, or an Herbal Salve that also cures poison and nausea.
🍲 Camp Cooking
Place a Camp Cooking Pot over its logs and open it like a crafting table to cook 13 recipes. These include Fish Chowder, Pumpkin Soup, Honey-Glazed Ham, Hearty Veggie Stew, Trail Mix, Jerky and the mighty Hunter’s Feast. Many foods restore thirst, change your temperature or give you buffs.
🔪 Living Off the Land
- Grass and ferns sometimes drop Plant Fiber.
- A Flint Knife makes fiber drop far more often, and animals drop extra meat and hide.
- The Field Thermometer shows your exact temperature and thirst, plus everything affecting them.
🐗 Four Wilderness Bosses
Each boss has its own home biome, fight music, three rage phases and a full set of custom animations.
- Ironhide Boar King (forests and plains): an armoured, crowned boar. It paws the ground and charges, tosses you with its tusks, and stomps out shockwave quakes.
- Thornback (forests, jungles and swamps): a moss-covered bear bristling with thorns. It rears up to rake you, slams the ground, and calls down a rain of thorns that poisons you.
- Rimefang (snowy biomes and peaks): a frost wolf. It pounces, sweeps frost breath that freezes you, and howls to summon Rime Pups. Its icy aura chills everyone nearby.
- Sandmaw (deserts, badlands and savannas): a colossal sand worm. It dives underground and tunnels toward you as a moving sand mound, then erupts beneath your feet. It also slams head-first into the ground, spits blinding sand and whips its body around in a full circle.

Summon a boss by crafting its relic: the Truffle Totem, Honey Idol, Howling Horn or Sun-Bleached Skull. Or watch out: after day 3, bosses may come hunting for you in their home biomes. You can turn wild encounters off in the Field Guide.
⚔️ Legendary Gear
Bosses drop rare materials, diamonds and loot, and sometimes their legendary weapon. You can also craft each weapon from its boss’s material. Use a weapon for its special ability:
- Tusk Halberd: a goring charge.
- Thornback Maul: a poisonous ground slam.
- Rimefang Fang: a frost dash, and it slows whatever it hits.
- Maw Glaive: a sandstorm vortex that pulls enemies in and blinds them.
- Upgrade your gear into the Rimefang Mantle (immune to cold) and the Sandmaw Veil (immune to heat).
📖 Getting Started
New players spawn with a Wildlands Field Guide and an empty Canteen. The guide covers your condition, survival tips and a bestiary of all four beasts, and has toggles for the HUD and wild encounters. Thirst and temperature always show on your HUD.
