Portable Slot API

Portable Slot API adds an extra portable slot made especially for backpacks, bags and other items that use their own storage.

Instead of taking another space in your normal inventory, a compatible backpack can be placed in the Portable Slot and accessed whenever you need it. The slot keeps working while travelling through the Overworld, Nether and End, and its contents remain linked to the original backpack.

The addon is designed to recognize compatible storage items automatically. In many cases, you do not need a special compatibility pack or a manually added list of backpacks: simply holding the item allows Portable Slot API to inspect it and learn how that backpack works.

How to use

Hold your backpack or compatible storage item. Portable Slot API will automatically try to recognize it.

Crouch while holding the item to place it in your Portable Slot. On mobile, use the backpack button beside the hotbar to access the stored backpack.

On PC, you can use /scriptevent psa:pull_linked, You need to have cheats enabled, and configure them to be accessed with an Alt key + command macro button.. Depending on how the original backpack addon works, Portable Slot API will either bring its storage to you or temporarily place the backpack in your hand so you can open it normally. After you close it, everything is returned automatically.

To remove the backpack from the Portable Slot, have an empty hand, crouch and interact with a normal non-interactive block. After about one second, the backpack will return to your hand. Interacting with things such as chests, doors or other usable blocks will not remove it.

Portable Slot API does not replace the backpack's original storage system. The backpack still belongs to its original addon; Portable Slot simply gives you another convenient place to keep and access it.

Because different backpack addons work in different ways, compatibility may vary. The current Beta has already been successfully tested with multiple backpack systems using different storage sizes and methods.

Known limitation

Some addons may use the same type of custom HUD button system as Portable Slot API. When that happens, the buttons can partially overlap or share behavior depending on the order of the addons. The Portable Slot itself can still work, but the on-screen button may not display as expected.

This is an early Beta, so testing with different backpack addons is especially welcome. If you find a backpack that does not work correctly, reporting which addon and backpack you used will help improve compatibility in future versions.
