## Item Upgrader

 

Turn almost any item into something better, if luck is on your side.

 

Item Upgrader adds a simple risk-and-reward menu to Minecraft Bedrock. Pick an item from your inventory, choose the reward you want, and decide how much you're willing to risk. A higher reward means lower odds, and risking more items improves your chances. Every upgrade plays out with a spinning animation and sound effects.

### How to get the Item Upgrader

 

**Crafting recipe** (crafting table):

That's 4 gold ingots, 4 iron ingots and 1 diamond.

### How to use it

 

1. Hold the **Item Upgrader** and right-click (or tap and hold on mobile).

2. Choose the item from your inventory that you want to risk.

3. Choose the reward you're aiming for. Use the **Search** button or the page buttons to browse.

4. If you have a stack, use the slider to set how many to risk.

5. Check your odds on the confirm screen, then press **UPGRADE**.

6. Watch the animation. Win and the reward goes into your inventory. Lose and the risked items are gone.

 

If your inventory is full when you win, the reward drops at your feet.

### How the odds work

 

Every item has a value. Your chance to win depends on how much value you risk compared to the value of the reward:

Chance = (items risked × item value ÷ reward value) × 0.95

```

 

The chance is always kept between **2% and 90%**, so nothing is a guaranteed win and nothing is impossible.

Safer upgrades cost you less in the long run. Big jumps are exciting but risky.

### What can be upgraded?

 

Almost everything. Popular items like ores, gear, rare drops and valuables have set values, and every other item gets a value based on its material and type. Only items worth more than the item you're risking show up as rewards.

 

A few items are blocked because they would break your world, such as bedrock, barriers, command blocks, structure blocks, spawners and other technical blocks.

### Installation

 

1. Download the `.mcaddon` file.

2. Open it with Minecraft Bedrock. It imports automatically.

3. Create or edit a world and activate both the **Behavior Pack** and **Resource Pack**.

4. If the menu doesn't open, turn on **Beta APIs** in the world's Experiments settings.

5. Load into your world and craft or give yourself the Item Upgrader.

### Tips

 

- Risking a full stack gives much better odds than risking one item.

- Aim for a reward just above your item's value for the safest upgrades.

- Use the **Search** button to jump straight to the item you want.

- Close the chat before using the upgrader so the menu can open.

- On servers, give the upgrader to players or let them craft it, and keep valuable rewards in mind when setting values.

### FAQ

 

**Do I lose my items if the upgrade fails?**

Yes. Only the items you chose to risk are removed. The rest of your inventory is untouched.

 

**Can I upgrade any item?**

Almost any item. Only a small list of technical or world-breaking items are blocked.

 

**Can I change the odds or item values?**

Yes. Open `BP/scripts/main.js` and edit the `VALUES` list. The house edge, minimum and maximum chance, and the blocked items list are all in the same file.

 

**Does it work in multiplayer?**

Yes. Each player gets their own menu and their own results.

 

**Does it work on mobile and console?**

It works anywhere Bedrock supports add-ons with scripting.

 

**Can I add modded or custom items?**

Yes. Add the item's ID to the `VALUES` list with a value.
