Evolved Creepers
Creepers have learned to hide.
That cow by the fence? Look at its face. That patch of tall grass? It wasn't there a minute ago. And the villager is hissing.
Evolved Creepers turns the creeper from one green mob into a threat that can be almost anything. Mobs you know wear creeper faces, some animals and villagers aren't what they seem, and creepers lie in wait disguised as the world around you. Same Minecraft, much less trust.
🟩 Creeper-faced mobs
Half of every hostile mob is secretly a creeper. A creeper zombie looks and acts like a zombie, with its own body, drops and spawns, but its face has been replaced by a creeper's, carved right into its skin. Get close and it runs at you, hisses, swells and flashes... and explodes. Outrun it and the fuse goes out, just like a creeper's.
- Every hostile mob can be one: zombies, skeletons, spiders, witches, illagers, endermen, guardians, Nether mobs and more.
- Ghasts, blazes and the Wither fly straight at you. Slimes and magma cubes hop at you.
- The Wither and the Warden are always creepers, with ten times the blast and a long fuse you can still escape. The Warden has lost its sonic boom; it just chases.
- Endermen glow purple and Wardens glow cyan where their creeper features are.
🐄 Not everything is what it seems
About 1 in 3 cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, horses, cats, wolves, golems and other animals is a creeper wearing their skin. So are some villagers. Every nitwit (the green-coated villager) is one. They act completely normal until you get close.
Piglins can be creepers too, but gold armor keeps them calm, just like normal.
🌿 Camouflaged creepers
Creepers dressed as their surroundings: the leaves of nearby trees, logs, sand, snow, moss, and stone, deepslate and ore underground. In a meadow, one becomes a clump of tall grass, shaded to match the grass around it.
They stand completely still until they see you.
🧱 Block creepers
Two blocks, stacked. A grass block on dirt, a tree trunk in the woods, a stone wall in a cave. They don't move until you're within a few blocks or you hit them. Kill one and it drops the block it was pretending to be.
Found mostly in caves and thick woods.
💥 The ordinary creeper grew up
Regular creepers are now twice the size, climb walls like spiders, and hit 20% harder, leaving fire where they explode.
Good to know
- Bedrock 1.26 or newer. No experimental toggles needed.
- Babies are never creepers and don't turn into one when they grow up. The Ender Dragon is left alone.
- Explosions break blocks like a creeper's. Turn off the
mobGriefinggame rule if you don't want that. - Bring a backup to Wither and Warden fights. A ten-times blast leaves a big hole.
- Other add-ons: Evolved Creepers works by giving vanilla mobs a creeper face, so it clashes with other add-ons that change the same mobs. Whichever pack is higher in your list wins for those mobs.
