🛠️ No Tool Waste

Have you ever accidentally broken a valuable enchanted tool because you weren't watching its durability?

No Tool Waste protects enchanted tools and other durable items when they reach their final durability point.

When an enchanted item has only 1 durability remaining, actions that could break it are stopped.

Your item stays alive so you can repair it instead of losing it forever.

🛡️ How Does It Work?

No Tool Waste monitors the item you're using.

When all of these conditions are true:

1. The item has durability
2. The item has at least one enchantment
3. It is not Armor
4. It has 1 durability point remaining

the protection activates.

Actions that could use or destroy the item are cancelled before the final durability point is consumed.

You also receive a warning:

Your tool is almost broken! Action cancelled to protect it.

✨ Only Enchanted Items Are Protected

This is an important part of No Tool Waste.

The addon does not make every tool impossible to break.

✨ Enchanted item at 1 durability

✅ Protected

🪓 Normal unenchanted item at 1 durability

❌ Not protected

The unenchanted item can break normally.

This keeps the mechanic focused on valuable tools that you probably want to repair instead of accidentally losing.

🛠️ What Can Be Protected?

The system is based on the item's durability and enchantments, rather than a tiny fixed list of item IDs.

This allows it to work with many different durable items.

Examples include:

• ⛏️ Pickaxes
• 🪓 Axes
• 🪏 Shovels
• 🌾 Hoes
• ⚔️ Swords
• 🔱 Tridents
• 🎣 Fishing Rods
• 🔨 Other compatible durable weapons/tools
• 🧩 Compatible custom items from other addons

If a compatible custom item has normal durability and enchantment components, No Tool Waste can protect it too.

🧩 Custom Addon Compatibility

No Tool Waste is not limited only to vanilla item names.

Compatible items from other addons can also be protected automatically if they use Minecraft's normal:

• Durability component
• Enchantable component

This makes the addon useful in addon packs where players use custom:

• Tools
• Weapons
• Spears
• Maces
• Fishing equipment
• Other durable enchanted items

No manual registration is required for compatible items.

🚫 Armor Is Not Protected

No Tool Waste intentionally ignores armor equipment.

This includes armor pieces such as:

• 🪖 Helmets
• 🛡️ Chestplates
• 👖 Leggings
• 👢 Boots
• 🪽 Elytra

Armor durability continues working normally.

The addon is focused on protecting the tools and usable items you actively hold.

⚠️ Protection Warning

When No Tool Waste prevents your item from breaking, you receive a translated warning message.

English

Your tool is almost broken! Action cancelled to protect it.

The warning uses a short cooldown to avoid repeatedly spamming your chat while the protected item remains in your hand.

🔧 It Does NOT Repair Your Tool

No Tool Waste does not give free durability.

When the protection activates, your item still remains at:

1 Durability

You must repair it yourself.

For example:

• ✨ Use Mending
• 🔨 Repair it with an Anvil
• 🔄 Combine compatible equipment
• 📦 Store it until you can repair it

The addon simply prevents an accidental final use from destroying the item.

⚙️ Automatic Protection

You don't need to:

• Open a menu
• Use a command
• Activate a setting
• Sneak
• Hold a special item

Protection activates automatically when an eligible enchanted item reaches its final durability point.

Once the item is repaired or you stop using the fragile item, normal behavior returns automatically.

🎮 Example

Imagine your enchanted Diamond Pickaxe has:

1 Durability Remaining

You try to mine another block.

Normally, that final use could destroy the pickaxe.

With No Tool Waste:

1. The addon detects the remaining durability
2. The mining action is stopped
3. Your Pickaxe stays at 1 durability
4. You receive a warning
5. You can safely repair it later
   
   

⚖️ Designed to Keep Survival Balanced

No Tool Waste does not provide infinite durability.

It does not repair items.

It does not protect unenchanted equipment.

It simply prevents the frustrating situation where a valuable enchanted tool disappears because you used it one time too many.

The protection system can work with compatible custom durable and enchantable items without requiring a specific item ID.

🚫 No player.json

No Tool Waste does not use player.json.

This helps reduce conflicts with other addons that modify the player.

👥 Realms & Multiplayer

The protection is handled individually for each player, making it suitable for multiplayer worlds and Realms.

🧪 No Experimental Gameplay

No experimental gameplay toggles are required.

The addon is designed to work without disabling achievements.
