Mutilation

Mutilation is a mod that makes getting damaged more punishing - mostly. Regardless, you should know that this mod is meant to be used with mods that let you avoid health damage better - like my own Auto Defend mod, or any sort of parrying or dodging mod.

Its current features are as follows:

Debilitation

As your HP drops, certain attributes defined in the config drop as well. Simple as. By default, your movement and attack speed go down.

Bleeding

High-damage hits and hits from entities with a bleed damage attribute greater than 0 may cause entities to bleed. Bleeding drains HP over time - it drains your HP faster if you sprint.

Bleeding has a small chance to resolve itself naturally, but don't count on it for heavy bleeding. The better way to resolve bleeding is to heal; when you would heal while bleeding, the heal is redirected into reducing your bleeding. Heal enough and you'll stop bleeding.

Critical State

When an entity would die, it instead becomes critical for a time, default is 20 seconds. When this timer expires, the entity dies.

If the entity would take damage while critical, they instead lose time - and if they would heal, they gain time. Healing goes towards bleeding before it goes towards the critical timer.

Surviving 25 seconds (by default) will cause the entity to recover and not die, but go on a 2-minute cooldown where if their health hits 0 again, they immediately die. To survive this amount of time, an entity must heal.

Healing Items

Mutilation adds four healing items:

All four function the same, although later-game bandages heal more: hold right-click with them for a while and you'll heal. If you're holding shift and looking at an entity when the item is consumed, you'll heal that entity instead of yourself.

Config

Mutilation is fairly configurable. Many aspects of the mod can be tweaked and toggled in the config file and via datapack tags. I recommend poking around in the config and in the mod's data (either on GitHub or by turning the .jar into a .zip) to learn what you can do.
