An emergency broadcast has been hijacked. The tape has begun. And something tall is standing a little closer every time you look away.

 

STATIC is a slow-burn analog horror addon. It doesn't throw everything at you at once. It starts with a door you don't remember closing, then builds into a stalker, then blood.

 

## Features

- **Analog horror intro:** a full-screen EAS-style broadcast with a creepy voiceover, VHS frames and a crawl.

- **The Watcher:** a custom ~5.7-block-tall creature with a cone hood, long fingers and a jaw that moves. It stalks you, appears behind you, and later hunts you.

- **5 escalating phases:** Unease → Wrongness → Intrusion → The Tape Ends → Feeding.

- **Slow creep, then gore:** missing torches, fake "player joined" messages, signs, static TVs in the woods, blood trails, hanged bodies, flesh lairs, blood rain.

- **Original soundtrack:** hum, off-key music box, dread drone, glitch noise and finale, plus stingers.

- **Visuals:** VHS overlay, cold fog, permanent blood moon, screen flicker.

- **Field Journal:** you start with a lore and survival book.

- **A real goal:** survive until the tape runs out. Breaking Static TVs drives the Watcher away.

Time counts playtime from joining. Use ONE cut per world.

 

## Install

1. Open the .mcaddon file to import it into Minecraft.

2. Create a world and activate BOTH the Behavior Pack and the Resource Pack.

3. Turn on cheats and, if scripts don't run, Beta APIs in Experiments.

4. Join. The broadcast starts automatically.

 

## Commands (cheats on)

- `/scriptevent horror:status` shows the current phase

- `/scriptevent horror:phase 1-5` (or `auto`) jumps phase

- `/scriptevent horror:speed 20` runs time 20x faster (testing)

- `/scriptevent horror:gore off` removes blood

- `/scriptevent horror:music off` mutes the music

- `/scriptevent horror:intro` replays the broadcast

- `/scriptevent horror:journal` gives the journal again

- `/scriptevent horror:reset` restarts the tape

 

## Tips

- Look straight at him and he vanishes after a second.

- If he's in your room, walk toward him.

- Hunters give up after ~2 minutes. Break a Static TV to drive them off.

- The Watcher ignores creative-mode players.

- Back up your world.

 

## Notes

- Made for Minecraft Bedrock (1.21.50 or newer). Not for Java.

- Use only one cut per world. Both cuts add the same mob and blocks.

- Credits: the voiceover uses the free offline Flite text-to-speech, heavily processed. The soundtrack and all art were generated for this project.
