Modular ATM & Bank System | Keycard Access | Shulker Box Storage

A fully functional, expandable ATM and personal banking system built entirely with Minecraft redstone.

This project combines the appearance of a traditional ATM with a modular storage system, allowing players to store and withdraw their valuables using personalized keycards.

Each player can have their own storage module, accessed using a specifically named item that acts as their bank key.

The system is designed for multiplayer survival worlds, casinos, shops, community banks and other locations where players want a convenient way to manage their valuables.

How It Works

Each bank account is connected to its own item filter and storage module.

Players insert their assigned keycard into the ATM. If the keycard matches a registered filter, the corresponding module is activated and dispenses one shulker box containing the player's stored items.

Each module uses a double chest, providing storage for multiple shulker boxes.

Important: The system dispenses one shulker box per withdrawal. Players cannot choose which specific shulker box they receive. If you need a particular box, you may have to repeat the withdrawal process.

Keycard Configuration

The ATM supports two different approaches to assigning bank keys.

Option 1: Administrator-Assigned Keycards

This is the simplest configuration.

The person building or managing the bank assigns a unique keycard to each player.

For example:

Each keycard is a renamed item that matches the corresponding module's item filter.

The administrator configures the filters and distributes the matching keys to the players.

This method is ideal for smaller multiplayer servers, community banks and casinos where the bank owner manages all accounts.

Option 2: Player-Configured Private Keycards

For players who prefer to choose their own keycard names, the bank can also be configured manually.

Instead of assigning keys in advance, the administrator leaves the main matching-item slot of each bank module's item filter empty.

The other four filter slots must remain configured with their designated filler items. Do not remove them.

Each player can then register their own personalized key.

Setup instructions:

  1. Decide how many bank accounts or storage modules your bank will have.

  2. Prepare one unregistered module for each player.

  3. Let one player configure their account at a time.

  4. The player chooses a custom keycard name, such as PrivateKey_7294.

  5. Rename 42 identical items to that exact name using an anvil.

  6. Locate the barrel positioned underneath the ATM's dropper/dispenser.

  7. Access the barrel and insert 41 of the renamed items to configure the corresponding item filter.

  8. Keep the remaining item as the personal bank key.

  9. Once the filter is correctly configured, the player's account is ready to use.

Repeat the process for each player and storage module.

Note: The 41-item registration procedure assumes the supplied filter design is prepared for that quantity. Depending on the filter's initial state and redstone configuration, the registration mechanism may need to be temporarily disabled or adjusted while the filter is being initialized.

How Private Is This Method?

With player-configured keys, the bank administrator does not need to know the keycard name chosen by each player.

However, this is not a fully secure authentication system.

Someone with access to the redstone machinery can inspect the item filters and discover the registered keys. Likewise, players who know the exact matching item data may be able to create duplicate keys.

Minecraft also allows players to break blocks and access storage directly on servers without additional protection.

This system is intended to provide convenient, organized, player-specific storage, not absolute protection against theft.

Server owners are free to modify the registration process or create their own keycard management system.

Features

Included Downloads

The project includes a downloadable Minecraft world and three separate schematics.

1. Complete World Download

Explore the complete build, inspect the redstone mechanisms and test the ATM yourself.

The world also demonstrates how an overflow/rejection output can be connected to the system.

This is useful for understanding how unsupported items can be redirected instead of remaining inside the bank's item transportation system.

2. Full ATM Schematic

The complete ATM and banking system, including its storage mechanisms.

3. Single Storage Module Schematic

One individual module, useful for custom installations or smaller banks.

4. Four-Module Bank Schematic

Four connected storage modules demonstrating how the system can be expanded for multiple players.

Important: Overflow / Rejection System

The downloadable schematics do not include a complete overflow or rejection output connection.

If a player inserts an incorrect item, or an item that does not match any registered keycard filter, the system needs a separate route to handle that item.

The included Minecraft world demonstrates how this output route can be connected.

However, the schematics intentionally leave this connection open so builders can adapt the overflow system to their own installations.

Depending on the layout of your bank, you may want to connect the overflow line to:

If you use one of the schematics, make sure to connect an appropriate overflow output before allowing players to insert items.

The exact routing depends on how and where you choose to install the bank.

Known Limitations

No individual shulker box selection

The ATM retrieves one shulker box per withdrawal, but the player cannot select a specific box from storage.

Overflow connection not included in schematics

The schematic downloads do not include the complete rejection output route. Builders must connect this themselves.

The world download provides an example of how this can be implemented.

Physical access is not protected

The ATM does not prevent players from breaking into the storage area. For multiplayer servers, use trusted players or additional protection systems where necessary.

Development Status

The core ATM system has been built and tested successfully, with no other known functional issues at the time of publication.

The design is modular, allowing additional storage accounts and future improvements.

Potential future upgrades include improved keycard registration, more flexible item rejection and additional storage management features.

Build your own bank, assign personal keys and give every player a place to store their valuables.

Permissions, Improvements & Community Creations

Feel free to use, modify, improve and redistribute this project!

You're welcome to build upon this design, create your own versions, add new features or even upload your improved version for others to download.

There are no restrictions requiring you to ask for permission before modifying or sharing the design.

Credit is not required, but it would be greatly appreciated!

If you decide to publish an improved version, mentioning or linking back to the original design would mean a lot to me. It's always interesting to see how other redstone builders approach the same problems and come up with new solutions.

YouTube Videos & Content Creation

If you'd like to showcase this ATM in a YouTube video, tutorial, review or any other type of content, please feel free to do so!

You don't need to ask for permission, and giving credit is completely optional. However, a link to the original Planet Minecraft project in your video description would always be appreciated.

I'd also love to see what other people build using this system.

A Note From the Creator

I'm definitely not the first person to build an ATM in Minecraft, and I don't claim to have invented the concept.

However, I haven't personally come across another ATM that works quite like this one, particularly with its modular storage system, personalized keycards and shulker box withdrawal mechanism.

I hope this design brings something interesting to the Minecraft redstone community, whether it's a new approach, a useful feature or simply inspiration for another project.

I don't know if it's the most efficient or advanced solution out there, but I've put time into designing, building and testing it, and I'm happy with how it turned out.

If someone manages to make it smaller, faster, more reliable or adds features I haven't thought of, that's exactly the kind of thing I'd love to see.

Build it, improve it, make it your own and have fun with it!
