🧭 ST Explorer
Get a title for every new biome and structure you find, and save your own waypoints — all from one menu. No mods, no setup, no operator permissions.
ST Explorer is a standalone datapack that turns exploring into something you can see and track. The first time you step into a biome — or inside a structure — a big title shows its name, a soft chime plays, and your running count updates. When you find a place worth coming back to, save it as a waypoint: a beam of light marks it from far away and a compass leads you there.
✨ Features
🧭 Biome Explorer
- A title with the biome's name the first time you step into it, in a different color every time.
- Every vanilla biome counts, and the total adjusts to your version (63 / 64 / 66).
- Check your progress anytime in the menu ("12/66") and press [View missing] for a list of every biome you haven't visited yet.
🏛 Structure Explorer
- Step inside a structure for the first time and get the title, a chime and a chat line with your running count.
- 19 structures: Village, Pillager Outpost, Woodland Mansion, Desert Pyramid, Jungle Temple, Igloo, Swamp Hut, Ruined Portal, Ocean Monument, Shipwreck, Ocean Ruins, Mineshaft, Stronghold, Ancient City, Trail Ruins, Trial Chambers, Nether Fortress, Bastion Remnant and End City.
- Variants count as one (any village, any mineshaft, any shipwreck…).
- Its own count ("5/19") and [View missing] list in the menu.
📍 Waypoints
- Up to 20 per player, in a paged list that only shows the ones you have, with a [+ New waypoint] button.
- Pick one of 10 types — Home, Mine, Farm, Base, Portal, Village, Dungeon, Treasure, Marker, Other — or name it yourself with a Book and Quill (write just the name on the first page; the first 24 characters are used). Rename any time with [✎].
- Every row shows how far away the waypoint is. [Go] gives you a compass named after it — Waypoint compass #3 · My base — and pressing it again replaces your previous one for that waypoint. [✕] deletes it (after asking you to confirm).
- Stepping through a Nether portal auto-saves a waypoint on each side, so you can always find your way back.
💡 A beam of light for every waypoint
Only you see your own waypoints. The marker adapts to how far away you are, so it guides you from a distance without getting in your way when you arrive:
| Distance | What you see |
|---|---|
| 34–64 blocks | A tall column of light (about 20 blocks high), easy to spot from far away |
| 14–34 blocks | A shorter column (about 8 blocks), brightest at the base |
| Under 14 blocks | A low column, an enchant swirl around the exact spot and sparks drifting upward |
Each waypoint type adds its own splash of color near the base — Home orange flames, Mine pale electric sparks, Farm green sparkles, Base golden sparks, Portal violet swirls, Village hearts, Dungeon blue soul flames, Treasure a yellow glow, Marker crit stars, Other green-gold totem sparks — so two waypoints close together are easy to tell apart. Saving a waypoint plays a quick burst of sparks as confirmation.
📋 The menu
Open it any time with:
/trigger ste_menu set 1
(or tap the button that appears when the world loads). From there you can:
- Turn Biome Explorer, Structure Explorer and Waypoints on or off independently. These switches are server-wide: on a multiplayer server, anyone can flip them and it applies to everybody.
- See both counters and open either missing list.
- Open your waypoint list with the ⚙ button.
- Switch between English and Español — each player picks their own language.
Progress is per player and never resets on its own. Turning a module off only pauses its checking — nothing you've found is lost.
🖼 Coverage
| Version range | Biomes tracked |
|---|---|
| 1.21 – 1.21.3 | 63 |
| 1.21.4 – 26.1 | 64 (adds Pale Garden) |
| 26.2 – 26.3 | 66 (adds Sulfur Caves and Dappled Forest) |
Structures and waypoints are the same on every version from 1.21 through 26.3.
Known limitation: a world still running exactly 26.2 (not yet updated to 26.3) shows Dappled Forest as unreachable until it updates — a datapack can't tell the two versions apart from the inside.
🔧 Installation
- Drop the
.zip(don't unzip it) into your world'sdatapacks/folder, or your server'sworld/datapacks/. - Run
/reload.
Works completely standalone — no other datapack or resource pack required. Everything it uses (st_explorer / ste_*) is its own, so it installs cleanly next to any other pack. The one exception is the full Survival Tweaks pack: it already includes these same modules, so use one or the other, not both (otherwise every new biome and structure would be announced twice and you'd get two separate sets of waypoints).
Compatible with Minecraft Java Edition 1.21 through 26.3.
💚 Part of something bigger
ST Explorer is one piece of Survival Tweaks, a quality-of-life datapack with graves, a status HUD, multiplayer sleep, durability/hunger/inventory alerts, gameplay tips, dynamic lights, a mob radar, one-click coordinate sharing and world event alerts. If you want all of that, install Survival Tweaks instead — it already includes ST Explorer. Check it out among the other projects on this profile.
