Roaring Knight [Jawuisjawu]

The Roaring Knight from Deltarune | Minecraft Bedrock Add-on

Created by Jawuisjawu

1. About the Add-on

Roaring Knight is a Deltarune-inspired add-on that introduces the Roaring Knight, alongside custom combat mechanics, unique weapons, specialized armor, and a dark dimension designed for confronting the Knight's threat.

This add-on is not limited to introducing a single new entity. Instead, it combines multiple interconnected gameplay systems, including Dark Fountain mechanics, exploration of the Dark World, battles against the Roaring Knight, and special items associated with mysterious Dark and Star powers.

Through the integration of Behavior Packs, Resource Packs, and scripting systems, these features work together to create an experience that differs from ordinary gameplay.

2. The Roaring Knight: The Main Threat

The Roaring Knight is the central entity of this add-on. It features a custom AI system that controls its behavior and combat abilities.

The Knight does not rely solely on ordinary melee attacks. It can perform various attacks involving its sword, slash techniques, star-shaped projectiles, and waves of attacks capable of threatening targets across the battlefield.

Its combat system uses entity properties and script-controlled logic to manage abilities according to specific states and combat phases. Attack cooldowns also help regulate how frequently abilities can be used, preventing the Knight from simply performing every attack continuously without pauses.

The Knight's abilities include:

- Knight Star: A star-shaped attack featuring several patterns, including triangular formations, six-pointed stars, and randomized patterns.

- Knight Sword: A sword-based attack followed by a special slash after a preparation delay. This ability threatens targets across an extended area in front of the Knight.

- Knight Slash: A ranged slashing attack calculated according to the Knight's facing direction. Its attack area is checked along a defined path, allowing it to reach farther than an ordinary melee attack.

- Knight Splitter: A special attack associated with breaking or releasing an attack wave, which can summon Knight Tooth.

Each ability has different characteristics. Players must pay attention to attack directions, distance, projectile patterns, and opportunities to evade the Knight's attacks.

3. The Dark World: A Dimension of Darkness

The Dark World is one of the most important features of this add-on. A custom dimension, "jawu:dark_world", provides a separate environment for exploration and battles against the Knight.

This dimension features a controlled world area, defined boundaries, and a custom ground structure. Its playable region is designed to keep the environment consistent and easier to manage.

Dark Fountain

The Dark Fountain serves as a central component of the dimension-travel system. It connects the ordinary world to the dark realm where the player's adventure takes place.

The Knife is also connected to Dark Fountain creation, with its mechanics requiring a suitable enclosed, dark area.

The entrance and exit are managed through a dimension-session system. This helps ensure that players who remain inside the Dark World do not lose their way out simply because another player has already left the dimension.

The system also accounts for situations in which all players have left the Dark World and when the battle session has been completed. This allows the cycle of entering the dimension, confronting the Knight, leaving the dimension, and beginning another adventure to be managed more systematically.

4. AI System and Combat Management

The Roaring Knight's AI is designed around entity behavior, target selection, ability phases, and attack cooldowns.

Custom properties control the Knight's current state, including its ability state and combat phase. This allows certain behaviors to be separated instead of running every ability through a single continuous process.

Scripts also handle the necessary checks to determine whether an attack can be executed, which entities can be targeted, and when an ability should stop or transition into another state.

Performance is another important consideration. Since combat involves numerous area checks, entities, items, and dimension mechanics, unnecessary processing must be minimized. One important optimization is reducing repeated command execution every tick, particularly within the Knight's AI system.

These optimizations aim to preserve complex combat behavior while reducing unnecessary performance overhead.

5. Special Weapons and Items

This add-on introduces several unique items with distinct functions. These items are not merely additional equipment; they are also connected to the combat system and the Dark World.

Knife

The Knife is associated with Dark Fountain creation. Its use depends on the appropriate enclosed, dark environment, directly connecting its mechanics to access to the Dark World.

Shadow Crystal

The Shadow Crystal is a special item obtained from the Roaring Knight. It is not craftable through ordinary crafting recipes and is instead associated with defeating the Knight.

This creates a direct connection between the boss encounter and the acquisition of a rare item.

Black Shard

The Black Shard has a specialized offensive effect against entities belonging to the "dark" family.

Its damage system provides 60 additional damage points against eligible targets, making it particularly effective against certain enemy types rather than providing the same bonus against every entity.

Dark Crystal Sword

The Dark Crystal Sword is a powerful weapon featuring custom damage and a specialized charge-related system.

The sword has a base damage value of 69, alongside mechanics involving scoreboard values, energy charging, and attacks with different effective areas.

Its configured attack parameters include a normal attack radius of approximately 2 blocks, a critical attack radius of approximately 5 blocks, and an initial forward distance of approximately 1 block.

These mechanics allow the sword to operate differently from standard Minecraft weapons. Its internal scoreboard system supports mechanics associated with charging and weapon usage.

Knight Guidebook

The Knight Guidebook is an in-game guide designed to help players understand the add-on.

It can be automatically given to a player when they join the world for the first time, with a system that prevents the item from being repeatedly granted when they rejoin.

The guidebook uses a custom interface with pages and navigation buttons. Images and text can be displayed to provide information directly in the game, reducing the need for players to search for explanations elsewhere.

6. Shadow Mantle: Protection Against Dark and Star Damage

The Shadow Mantle is a specialized chestplate featuring a custom damage-mitigation system.

When its protection conditions are met, the armor can reduce incoming damage from Dark- or Star-related sources by 80%.

This effect is handled through custom checks involving the damage source and the player's equipped armor. Its protection therefore depends not only on standard armor values but also on custom logic that identifies the type of incoming attack.

The Shadow Mantle provides players with a specialized defensive option when facing certain threats within the add-on.

7. Custom Damage System

One of the add-on's important components is its script-based damage system. Certain weapons, abilities, and armor pieces use additional checks to determine how damage should be applied.

These checks can consider the source of an attack, entity families, equipped equipment, and specific ability conditions.

Entity-family checks also help prevent custom damage mechanics from affecting targets that should be excluded, including entities belonging to the Knight's special family. This is important for maintaining consistent combat behavior and preventing unintended interactions.

Through this approach, the add-on can establish its own combat rules without relying entirely on game's standard damage mechanics.

8. Behavior Pack, Resource Pack, and Script API Integration

Roaring Knight combines several components of the Minecraft Bedrock add-on system.

Behavior Pack controls entity behavior, events, properties, components, and gameplay mechanics related to AI and items.

Resource Pack provides the visual assets required by the add-on, including textures, item appearances, and interface assets that support the Roaring Knight theme.

Script API handles more complex logic, including target checks, attack-area calculations, cooldown management, damage protection, inventory handling, and the Dark World session lifecycle.

Separating these responsibilities makes the system easier to develop and maintain. Different script modules can handle individual gameplay systems before being integrated through the main module.

The development process also considers API version compatibility, event management, and the execution limitations of Minecraft Bedrock.

9. Design Philosophy

The primary goal of Roaring Knight [Jawuisjawu] is to bring a more integrated Deltarune-inspired experience to Minecraft Bedrock.

The Roaring Knight serves as the central challenge. The Dark World provides a dedicated environment for confronting that challenge, while weapons and armor introduce additional strategic options. Dark Fountain mechanics and special items connect these systems into a unified gameplay experience.

The focus is not simply on adding content, but on creating mechanics that interact with one another. AI, attacks, damage protection, items, inventory management, and dimension travel must work together to maintain consistent gameplay.

10. Conclusion

Roaring Knight [Jawuisjawu] is a Minecraft Bedrock add-on project that combines Deltarune-inspired content with custom boss combat, a dedicated dimension, unique items, and script-driven gameplay systems.

Through the Roaring Knight, Dark World, Dark Fountain, Dark Crystal Sword, Shadow Mantle, Shadow Crystal, and various special abilities, the add-on builds an experience that goes beyond simply introducing a new entity.

The project also represents an exploration of more advanced Bedrock development, with an emphasis on system integration, entity behavior management, and performance optimization.
