⬇ DownloadM/S Kronprins Frederik was built in 1980 at Nakskov Skibsværft in Denmark for DSB (Danish State Railways) and entered service in April 1981 on the Great Belt (Storebælt) route between Nyborg and Korsør. As the third of three sister ships (alongside Dronning Ingrid and Prins Joachim), she carried passengers and freight across the strait for over 16 years.
Following the opening of the Great Belt Fixed Link in 1997, the ship was acquired by Scandlines and rebuilt for the Gedser–Rostock route. Later in her career, she served as a dedicated freight ferry on the Puttgarden–Rødby line. After an incredible 45-year career, Kronprins Frederik made her final voyage in July 2026 to Esbjerg, Denmark, for recycling, closing an iconic chapter in Danish maritime history.
