Dangerous Frontiers brings high quality custom boss fights to modern fabric Minecraft worlds! This mod will be an excellent addition to your Vanilla+ worlds where you want to have something more beyond the rather lackluster boss fights in vanilla. Face off ancient creatures with immense power, each with a custom model and mechanics. Obtain Ancient Souls that will allow you to craft a new end game set of armor! Dangerous Frontiers is designed to fit into your normal vanilla gameplay and requires you to beat the ender dragon before you can even get started! It is meant as a fun and difficult end game addition! But remains faithful to vanilla balancing and style.

Features

This mod is primarily a boss fight centered mod that is built for newer versions of Minecraft. Finally bringing difficult and fun boss fights to the modern era. The mod is still in early development, so not all features are complete. See below for more details about the mod!

How many bosses are planned?

• Four total boss fights are buult in to the original plan, but currently we only have added the first. The Ancient Defender Boss can be fought ONLY after defeating the Ender Dragon and obtaining the Dragon Tear and then crafting the Altar.

What can I obtain in this mod?

• Ancient Armor Set! A powerful End Game armor set that is designed to be stronger than Netherite (and Advanced Netherite too!) and has a special Ancient Aura effect when wearing a full set! There even is Armor for Horses and the Nautiliss
• New Tools! A full set of tools have been added, each with powerful but balanced abilities so the game isn't too easy.
• New Bow that shoots arrows that catch enemies on fire with a Purple Flame. It hurts and lasts a long time!
• New Shield! The ultimate shield....because it cannot be broken!
• And more! enchantments, special items and mobs!

Can I use this in a Modpack? Can I make money off of this mod or modify it from it's original version?

• You are allowed to use this in Modpacks that are non-monitized.
• You cannot profit in any way while using this mod in a pack or claim it as your own mod even if you have modified it.
• I'm not selfish, so if you want to monetize your Modpack and also want this mod added then just ask me and we can work out a deal that works for everyone. If you want my official stamp of approval for compatibility packs or you want to feature it in some specific way on a server, just ask for permission and provide proper credit.

Can I use this and make a mod showcase or video about it?

• Absolutely! Just give credit please! Seriously all that I care about!

What versions of Minecraft will this support?

• Java on Fabric API, no plans to port over to other mod loaders as of now
• The goal is to only update the mod for newer versions of the game. So 26.1.2 for now but eventually we will port it to 26.2+
• No backports ever. We will try to finish the mod as much as possible on 26.1.2 but eventually future updates will only come to newer ports.

TECHNICAL QUESTIONS & COMPATIBILITY

Works with Vanilla gameplay - This was designed from the beginning to add FAITHFUL and VANILLA FRIENDLY bosses. Each boss is designed to fit into the Vanilla style (All textures are 16x16 to match Minecrafts other bosses and block textures) and don't disrupt normal gameplay! You can play Minecraft exactly how you always have! But now if you decide you want something MORE after beating the Ender Dragon....Well Dangerous Frontiers is your mod!

Multiplayer Friendly - I highly suggest fighting each boss with friends in multiplayer! Just make sure everyone has the mod installed and that you all are geared up! The Ancient Defender and all future bosses will be tested solo AND with groups, I like group boss fights, so every boss should be hard to beat and difficult for even a group of three to take on, but if you are brave and have A LOT of totems....you can definitely take on this boss mod solo too!

COMPATIBILITY LIST

We built this from the ground up to be compatible with most mods. But there is a high likelihood that a mod that makes any changes to the END or greatly change aspects of the end that could break this mod.

I also made sure that these high quality mods (that you should get) are also fully compatible and integrated!

• I have no idea if any other gravestone mod will work other than Gravestones mod.
• Works with AND can be upgraded just like regular netherite into Ancient Armor! Advanced Netherite
• Works with Hardcore Revival
• Works with Solas Shaders. But did not test with other shaders! But should be fine!

WHATS TO COME

This mod is currently still in Beta and won't be finished until I add at LEAST four bosses. Below is my development plan as of now, please note that anything could change and it depends on costs and time.

ROADMAP (IN ORDER)

September - The Ominous Update (Out Now)

• Fix/Update/Adjust Ancient Defender Boss
• Overhauled SOME Textures to be more consistent and high quality.
• Ominous Potions work with bosses and have benefits
• Trims support for Ancient Armor
• Add Ancient Template for a less grindy upgrading path.

November - December 2026 (The Judgement Update)

• Fix Ancient Defender unfinished textures (Orb in chest needs texturing, intro beam and outro beam need texturing, other textures could use updates)
• Add next boss for the Nether which will be much harder to beat than the Ancient Defender
• New boss drop item (something useful that is worthwhile)
• Big texture and style overhaul (Ancient Soul is getting a re-work to fit with my oddly cute style lol)
• New Enchantments?
• 26.2 Update: This may happen after a full release on 26.1.2

Early 2027 - Overworld and Sift Boss updates

• Add Advancements for the mod.
• Update to 26.3 and 26.4+ drops (will work towards being ready for sift update)
• Add third boss into the Overworld and will be a HUGE feat to defeat! This will be nearly* impossible to beat!

• Add more enchantment books!
