Minecraft is familiar.

Descent is a psychological horror mod about slowly losing trust in the world around you. There is no constant stream of monsters or scripted jumpscares. Instead, ordinary Minecraft gradually becomes less reliable.

A torch is somewhere you didn't leave it.

A door you closed is open again.

Footsteps follow you when nobody is there.

Something stands at the edge of the forest.

You go to sleep.

And sometimes, you don't wake up where you expected.

Descent tracks aspects of your journey and uses them to influence what you experience.

Your actions, surroundings, isolation, exhaustion and other factors can gradually affect your mental state.

The deeper you descend, the more noticeable the changes become.

Sleep can take you somewhere else.

Dreams are separate spaces built from recurring environments, strange geometry and distorted versions of familiar places.

Not every dream behaves the same way.

Some are quiet.

Some are unfamiliar.

Some feel almost normal.

And some make you question whether you ever woke up at all.
