GlitchCraft for Paper

Reality is breaking, on your server. The GlitchCraft glitch for Paper servers. Players join with plain vanilla Minecraft: no mods needed. The plugin sends a small resource pack that gives the glitch items and mobs their GlitchCraft looks.

Works on Paper 1.21.11 and 26.2. Want the full experience (new mob types, real custom dimensions, cinematics)? Every player installs the GlitchCraft mod and the server runs it on Fabric instead.

Install

1. Put the GlitchCraft jar in your server's plugins folder and restart the server.
2. That's it. Players are sent the GlitchCraft resource pack automatically when they join (it's hosted online, so there's no port to open or address to set).

Options in plugins/GlitchCraft/config.yml:

• resource-pack.required: kick players who decline the pack (off by default).
• resource-pack.use-hosted: turn off to serve the pack from your own server instead (then open resource-pack.port, 8163 by default, and set resource-pack.public-address), or host it anywhere and set resource-pack.url. If the hosted pack ever can't be reached, the plugin falls back to serving it itself.

What's in it

• Glitch Rifts open near players at night and in thunderstorms and drop a Glitch Heart with a Threat Level from 1 to 6. Rifts at Level 2 and up leave Corrupted Ruins with a Glitched Chest (the mod's chest model, craftable too: a chest ringed with 4 Glitch Shards).
• Water rifts: sometimes a rift crashes into a lake or the ocean. The Heart sinks to the bottom, the sea floor corrupts, and the zone fills with glitched drowned. From Level 2 some of them ride glitched zombie nautiluses.
• Corruption spreads from the Heart and looks just like the mod: the animated missing-texture ground, Datastone, glitched logs and leaves, Glitch Ore. Only natural blocks are corrupted, never builds. Break the Heart (iron pickaxe or better) and the zone heals back exactly as it was.
• Standing on corruption makes you rubber-band back a second and a half. Mobs that walk onto it become glitched (zombies, husks and drowned show a corrupted copy of their skin). Glitched copper golems sometimes dupe the stack they're sorting, and sometimes delete it. Hits from glitch mobs can Glitch you (random snaps, scrambled hotbar).
• Glitch mobs: Glitch Walkers (in a full glitch skin), Glitch Crawlers, Pixel Wraiths (Level 4+) and the Glitch Golem mini-boss (Level 5+), in the mod's own models. They fade away when their Heart is gone.
• FATAL ERROR: the boss, summoned with a Kernel Panic on a Heart. Three phases (CORE DUMP, BLUE SCREEN); beating it runs System Restore across the server. Keep it underwater for 10 seconds and it turns into DROWNED ERROR: it swims after you, throws tridents and calls glitched drowned (half of them riding glitched zombie nautiluses), and drops Waterlogged Data.
• SEGFAULT: the second boss. Use Source Code on a Glitch Heart to overload it. A skeleton in a corrupted costume that reads memory it doesn't own: every few hits it forks a stack frame, a smaller, weaker copy of itself. Let 8 pile up and it runs out of memory, drops the whole stack and heals back to full. Killing it unwinds the stack and drops the Null Pointer.
• Out of Bounds: right-click the Null Pointer and fall out of the world. A flat plane of corruption under everything, with Loot Vaults scattered across it and Pixel Wraiths patrolling. Three minutes before the chunk reloads and puts you back where you clipped in (right-click again out there to come back early) - and the way home is stored on you, so a logout or a restart can't strand anyone.
• Void Buffer: build a Firewall frame like a Nether portal (opening at least 2 wide and 3 tall) and light it with a Glitch Shard. Floating corrupted islands over an endless void, with Data Archives holding what was thrown away and Null Ore in the rock. Walk back into the gate to come home.
• Null Blade: 2 Null Fragments on a Glitchium Sword. The strongest sword in the plugin: 1 hit in 4 deletes a fifth of what the target has left (5% on bosses), straight past armour.
• Data Storms: about 1 in 3 thunderstorms rains Glitch Shards, strikes data bolts and brings Packet Loss.
• Reality Anchors keep a 24-block safe zone. Red Nether Bricks work as Firewalls (corruption can't pass).
• Gear: Glitch Blade, Glitchium Sword, Glitchium Spear (a charged hit desyncs the target sideways), the Glitched Trident (only from DROWNED ERROR), pickaxe, axe, shovel and armor (full set: glitch immunity), Patch, Glitch Scanner, Blink Drive, Grapple Hook, Lag Bomb, Packet Sniffer, Memory Card, Overclock Chip, Glitch Pearl, Hex Wand, Cache Claw, Backup Save, Restore Disk, Corrupted Disk, the water gear made from Waterlogged Data (Rebreather Chip: breathe, see and swim underwater; Riptide Drive: launch through water or rain), and the Rewind Clock (5 seconds), upgradable to Rewind Clock II (10 s) and III (15 s) with 2 Source Code and 2 Glitchium Ingots each.
• Glitched Enchanting Table (an enchanting table ringed with Glitch Shards and Glitchium Ingots): rolls GlitchCraft enchantments with lapis, levels and bookshelves: Lag Switch, Data Siphon, Phase Shift, Rubber Band, Duplication, Aimbot, Desync and Antivirus.
• Exploited: your own Glitchium weapons slow and weaken their target (Slowness, Weakness, 30% less armor) instead of Glitching it, so it stays in front of you.
• New players get the GlitchCraft Manual with their first Glitch Shard.

Differences from the Fabric mod

Vanilla clients can't load new mob types, so the glitch mobs are vanilla mobs underneath: Walkers and the boss wear costumes, and Crawlers, Pixel Wraiths and the Glitch Golem are drawn with display entities in the mod's own models (their hitboxes are the mod's). Glitched animals keep their normal look. GlitchCraft enchantments are kept on the item and listed in its tooltip (a vanilla client can't learn new enchantments), and a thrown Glitched Trident looks like a normal trident in flight. Out of Bounds and the Void Buffer are ordinary Bukkit worlds (glitchcraft_out_of_bounds and glitchcraft_void_buffer) rather than new dimensions, so they borrow the End's sky, and the part of them you'll ever stand in sits far from their origin, clear of the End's dragon-fight furniture. A vanilla client can't be given the mod's Rift Gate block either, so a lit gate is an invisible block you walk straight through, drawn with a curtain of particles. SEGFAULT is summoned from a Glitch Heart (the mod uses a Glitch Core), and the only things roaming the two worlds are the usual glitch mobs. There's no Memory Leak or Glitched Wither, no glitched clouds, no camera effects or Rewind replay, and no advancements. For the complete mod on a server, run the GlitchCraft mod on Fabric. Everything is saved in plugins/GlitchCraft/ (hearts.yml, anchors.yml).

• Glitched Trident: only dropped by DROWNED ERROR (it wields one). Hits harder against glitch mobs; thrown in water or rain it arcs to up to 3 nearby monsters, and a moment after it lands it lags straight back into your inventory.
• Glitched Enchanting Table with eight GlitchCraft enchantments: Lag Switch (5% per level to freeze a target for 1.5 s, not bosses), Data Siphon (heal 10% per level of the damage, up to 1 heart a hit), Phase Shift (4% per level to dodge a hit), Rubber Band (the void, lava or a deadly fall snaps you back; 2-minute cooldown), Duplication (5% per level for double block drops; not with Fortune or Silk Touch), Aimbot (shots curve onto monsters you nearly hit), Desync (hits Exploit) and Antivirus (no Glitched or Lag Spikes).
• Exploited: the Glitch Blade, Glitchium Sword and Glitchium Spear now Exploit their target instead of Glitching it, so it no longer teleports out of reach.
• New command: /gc enchant.

• Glitchium Spear: a Glitchium Ingot and two sticks. Hits harder against glitch mobs and Glitches what it hits; a charged hit desyncs the target a few blocks sideways.
