StrobeLights is a Paper plugin mainly designed for Minecraft 1.21.4 that adds invisible, configurable 3D RGB lighting, strobes, static lights & camera flashes.

No client mod is required — players only need to accept the included resource pack.

Lights remain fixed at their real world position and can illuminate walls, floors and large areas without visible fixtures, beams, cubes or particles.

🎨 RGB Lighting

Every light can be configured independently:

• Color
• RGB intensity
• Refresh rate
• Static or strobe mode
• Screen flash level
• Flash power
• Exact position

At maximum intensity, RGB lights use a broad saturated falloff capable of illuminating large walls, floors and areas.

💥 Throwable Flashbang

Give a flashbang with:

/strobe flash give <player>

Right-click to throw it.

On detonation it creates:

• A strong white environmental light pulse
• Directional screen flash
• Distance-based flash intensity
• Distance-based flash duration
• Distance-based sound
• Wall and line-of-sight blocking

The environmental light and camera flash are independent, so players looking away can still see the room light up without receiving the full screen flash.

Run:

The GUI lets you:

• Create and place lights
• Configure RGB colors
• Configure intensity and refresh speed
• Switch between static and strobe modes
• Configure screen flash effects
• Start, stop or pulse lights
• Move and rename lights
• Teleport to lights
• Delete lights
• Enable Discovery Mode
• Control all lights globally

🔎 Discovery Mode

StrobeLights sources are completely invisible during normal gameplay.

Discovery Mode temporarily reveals nearby lights and their editing handles without changing their saved state.

EasyArmorStands v2 can optionally be used to move these handles precisely in 3D.

Fabulous Graphics

Provides the full StrobeLights experience with:

• Screen-space 3D RGB lighting
• Colored illumination
• Depth-based occlusion
• Large RGB falloff
• Directional camera flashes

Fast / Fancy Graphics

StrobeLights automatically falls back to invisible vanilla LIGHT blocks.

The fallback remains invisible but uses Minecraft's standard white lighting instead of RGB.

StrobeLights includes a complete command system for managing lights directly in-game.

• /strobe — Open the main GUI
• /strobe start <name|all> — Start one light or all lights
• /strobe stop <name|all> — Stop one light or all lights
• /strobe toggle <name> — Toggle a light on or off
• /strobe pulse <name|all> — Trigger a test pulse
• /strobe tp <name> — Teleport to a light
• /strobe discover [on|off|toggle] — Control Discovery Mode
• /strobe flash give <player> — Give a throwable flashbang
• /strobe set <name> color <#RRGGBB|name> — Change the light color
• /strobe set <name> refresh <1-1200|static> — Change refresh speed or enable static mode
• /strobe set <name> mode <strobe|static> — Change the operating mode
• /strobe set <name> brightness <0-15> — Change RGB intensity
• /strobe set <name> blindness <none|low|medium|high|extreme> — Change the screen flash level
• /strobe set <name> flashpower <0-200> — Change flash power
• /strobe group list — Lists all groups
• /strobe group <name> <start|stop|toggle|pulse> — Control group actions
• /strobe move <name> — Move a light
• /strobe rename <name> <new-name> — Rename a light
• /strobe delete <name> — Delete a light
• /strobe info <name> — Show information about a light
• /strobe list — List all configured lights
• /strobe reload — Reload the plugin configuration and language files

🔐 Permissions

strobelights.admin

It grants access to the plugin GUI and all StrobeLights management commands.

This permission is granted to server operators by default.

🌍 Languages

StrobeLights automatically supports the player's Minecraft client language.

Included:

• English
• Spanish
• French
• German
• Italian

Language files are fully editable from:

plugins/StrobeLights/lang/

⚠️ Important

StrobeLights uses screen-space RGB lighting. It does not provide ray-traced lighting, voxel global illumination or secondary light bounces.

Other resource packs replacing the same shaders may conflict.

Fast flashing effects may affect photosensitive players. Server owners should warn players before using intense or rapid strobes.
