A fresh totem equips itself the moment one is used with Simple Auto Totem, an addon that handles automatic replacement from the inventory. It requires Experimental Features, because it uses scripting APIs.
The effect is instant, so players always have a totem ready without manual steps. Holding a shield in the off-hand temporarily disables the auto-equip when it is not wanted.
The addon works in multiplayer, is compatible with other addons and does not introduce performance problems. It keeps achievements available, as its name says.
