Features

The health bar 📊

Every mob and player gets a three-line tag above their head:

Zombie
[████████░░░░]
❤ 13.5/20 (68%)

The bar changes color as health drops:

Health Color
75% to 100% Green
50% to 75% Yellow
25% to 50% Orange
10% to 25% Red
Under 10% Dark red

Bars update every quarter of a second, and instantly when something takes damage. Everything within 32 blocks of a player gets a bar. Items, XP orbs, armor stands and NPCs are skipped.

The crosshair HUD 🎯

Minecraft only shows name tags when you are close to something or looking right at it. The crosshair HUD fixes that. Look at any mob or player within 24 blocks and its health appears above your hotbar:

Warden [██████████░░] ❤ 400/500 (80%)

Hide it for yourself any time, no cheats needed:

/tag @s add thi_hud_off

Show it again with /tag @s remove thi_hud_off.

Damage numbers 💥

Every time something is hurt, the exact damage (for example -4.5) appears in red on its tag and on your HUD for one second. You'll know exactly how hard your sword, bow or trident hits.

Named mobs and pets 🏷️

The pack uses the name tag to show the bar, so it saves the original name of every mob and player the first time it sees them. The original name comes back:

Leftovers from older health bar packs are ignored and never saved as a name.

Installation

  1. Download the .mcpack file.
  2. Open it with Minecraft Bedrock. It imports automatically.
  3. Create or edit a world and activate the Behavior Pack.
  4. Load into your world. Bars and the HUD appear right away.

Requires Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.50 or newer. This is a behavior pack only, so there is no resource pack to activate. If the bars don't show, turn on the Beta APIs experiment in your world settings.

Settings ⚙️

These commands need cheats or operator. Settings are saved per world.

Command What it does
/scriptevent thi:mobs on Turns mob health bars on (use off to turn them off)
/scriptevent thi:players on Turns player health bars on (use off to turn them off)
/scriptevent thi:hud on Turns the crosshair HUD on for everyone (use off to turn it off)

Tips

FAQ

Do I need any experimental features?
The pack uses the Scripting API. If the bars don't show up, turn on the Beta APIs experiment in your world settings.

Why can't I see the bars from far away?
Minecraft only displays name tags when you are fairly close to an entity or looking at it. The crosshair HUD shows health at up to 24 blocks, even when the tag is hidden.

Does it work on mobs from other add-ons?
Yes. Any entity with a health component gets a bar.

Will it rename my pets?
No. The original name is saved and restored. Your named wolf or cat keeps its name, and it shows correctly in death messages.

Does it work in multiplayer?
Yes. Every player has their own crosshair HUD, which you can turn off with a tag. The health bars and settings are shared by the whole world.

Does it work on mobile and console?
It works anywhere Bedrock supports add-ons with scripting.

Will it lag my game?
No. Only entities near players are updated, and a tag is only sent when it actually changes.

Can I show hearts instead of HP?
Yes: /scriptevent thi:unit hearts

Can I change the numbers?
Yes. Open scripts/main.js. At the top you can change the bar length, update speed, bar range, HUD range and how long damage numbers stay.

Does it work with other add-ons that change name tags?
Add-ons that also write to the name tag (some rank and nametag packs) can conflict with the bars. If that happens, turn off the bars you don't need, for example /scriptevent thi:players off, and keep the crosshair HUD.
