MOTD is a Minecraft plugin that brings a new level of customization to your server list by allowing Minecraft textures and icons to be displayed directly inside your server's MOTD.
Designed for a wide range of Minecraft server platforms and proxy software, MOTD provides flexible configuration, compatibility handling, and fallback behavior to keep your server's MOTD working reliably.
Whether you run a standalone server or a proxy-based network, MOTD makes it easier to customize your server list experience.
✨ Features
MOTD supports the following platforms:
Minecraft Version Compatibility
Minecraft texture and icon rendering is supported starting with Minecraft 1.21.9.
For versions below 1.21.9, MOTD provides fallback handling. Depending on the platform and configuration, the plugin can use the configured fallback or leave texture rendering disabled.
This allows MOTD to handle older Minecraft versions without relying on unsupported texture-rendering functionality.
⚠️ Spigot Compatibility Notice
MOTD is supported on Spigot, but Minecraft textures and icons cannot be displayed in the MOTD on Spigot.
The plugin can still be used on Spigot, where the standard text-based MOTD is used instead of the custom texture display.
For texture and icon rendering, use a supported platform that provides the required functionality.
️ Fallback & Reliability
MOTD is designed to preserve a working server-list MOTD whenever custom texture rendering is unavailable.
Fallback handling covers situations such as:
⚙️ Configuration
Customize the plugin behavior through its configuration files.
Available behavior includes MOTD customization, texture and icon display, and fallback handling. The exact options depend on the features provided by the installed version.

MOTD gives server owners more ways to customize that experience with Minecraft textures and icons, while retaining compatibility handling for platforms and versions where the custom display is unavailable.
No client-side resource pack installation is required for players to see the supported MOTD display.
