Tidefall | ✅ Ocean dimension: 3 depth layers, 10 creatures, 3 bosses, mounts & submarines - no mods
Java mod listed for Minecraft 1.21–26.x. Downloads from the MC Java Mods app on Android.
⬇ Download on SpigotThere is a whole world under the waves. Go down and find it.
Tidefall adds an ocean dimension you explore downwards.
Build a prismarine gate, light it with a Tide Pearl and step through. You arrive at a floating station over a turquoise reef. Every block deeper is darker, colder and more dangerous: the reef gives way to a forest of giant kelp, and the kelp falls away into an abyss where the only light comes from things that want to eat you.
Mind your air, craft better gear, beat the guardian of each layer, and go deeper.
Drop the jar in. Restart once. Dive.
A world below the waves
A generated ocean in three depth layers, each with its own seabed, life, water colour, fog and music.
- Sunlit Reef: turquoise water, sand, coral reefs, sea pickles and glowing pearl nodes. New divers always start here.
- Kelp Deeps (below 26 m): green water, forests of giant kelp that almost reach the surface, rocky ridges, sunken wrecks.
- The Abyss (below 84 m): near-black water, sculk and old bones, glowing lichen, deep trenches and the music of the Deep Dark.
- Structures: coral grottos, air domes you can breathe in (with a door airlock), wrecks with loot, and three boss arenas. Chests fill themselves the first time they're opened.
- Bubble vents rise from the seabed to the surface: swim into one to refill your tank.
A real slice of the seabed, from the station to the abyss.
The Immersion Station: your way in, and your way home through its gate.
Build a gate anywhere. If the frame is wrong, it tells you exactly which block is missing.
Mind your air
- Oxygen tanks (90 s → 600 s) keep you breathing, and each tank keeps its own air: carry a spare. Deep water empties them faster. Refill at the surface, in a bubble vent, inside an air dome, or by eating an Air Bladder.
- Pressure: the Kelp Deeps need a Carapace Helmet and the Abyss an Abyssal Helmet. Dive deeper than your helmet allows and the water crushes you.
- Fins make you swim faster; the Jelly Lantern lights up the dark around you; the Tidal Compass points to your next objective.
- Everything is on the action bar: your oxygen, the layer you're in and how deep you are.
- Die down there and the tide gives your diving gear, tools and weapons back (configurable).
Your tank, your depth and a boss fight, all at a glance.
Ten new species
Every creature has its own animated 3D model built from vanilla blocks: tails swing, wings flap, jaws snap, jellies pulse. And each one behaves differently.
- Reef: schools of Glimmerfish, Reef Rays gliding overhead, Spinecrabs scuttling on the sand, Barracudas that circle and then dash in a straight line (dodge it!).
- Kelp: Kelp Eels that lurk among the stalks and lunge, Lanternjellies that sting on touch, and old Shellbacks drifting by.
- Abyss: the Anglerfish (from afar you only see its lure), the Gulper that sucks you into its jaws, and the Leviathan, a mini-boss that patrols the deep and charges anything it sees.
- Each one drops its own crafting material. Defeat them all to complete your bestiary.
- They spawn around divers and vanish when nobody is near: nothing is ever saved into your world. Not vanilla mobs, so they work in peaceful and other plugins leave them alone.
⚔️ Three guardians of the deep
Each layer ends with a boss. Every boss has a boss bar, three phases, attacks you can see coming, and health that scales with the number of players. Everyone who fights gets the reward.
- Carapax, the Reef Tyrant (use a Carapax Lure on the altar of its den): claw slams with a shockwave, charges you can lure into the coral pillars to stun it and hit its soft belly, a spinning shell, its brood and exploding bubbles.
- The Drowned Tidecaller waits in the throne room of the Drowned Citadel, a dungeon that fills itself: drowned guards rise as you reach each room and the bars ahead open when it's clear. The boss sweeps the room with currents, drags you into whirlpools, calls lightning on marked spots and finally puts out the lights.
- The Maw of the Abyss (light an Abyssal Beacon in its pit): it hides in burrows and bursts out at you, releases lures in the dark, and in the end inhales the whole arena while the walls crumble.
The Drowned Citadel, rising from the kelp.
The Maw's pit in the abyss.
Ride the deep
- Tame a mount: feed Glimmer Scales to a Reef Ray or seagrass to an old Shellback until it trusts you, then right-click to ride. Steer with your movement keys and where you look; jump to rise, sneak to get off.
- Reef Ray: fast and agile. Shellback: slow, but you breathe on its back and it shelters you one layer deeper than your helmet.
- Tide Whistle: calls your mount to you anywhere in the water. Sneak + use to switch between the mounts you have tamed.
- Submersible (crafted in the Kelp Deeps): place it in the water and climb in. Inside you breathe, you have a headlight, and the hull takes every hit instead of you. Watch the hull on your action bar: it repairs itself while parked.
- It stays parked where you leave it, even after a restart. Sneak + right-click to pick it up, hull damage and all.
- Abyssal Submersible: bolt leviathan scales to the hull and take it all the way down into the Abyss.
From first pearl to crown
- 39 new items: materials from nodes and creatures, three helmets, four tanks, fins, leggings, the Reef Spear (hits harder underwater), the Tide Trident (dash underwater) and the Abyssal Blade.
- Recipes unlock layer by layer in the recipe book, so players always know what they can make next.
- Its own advancement tab, hints above the hotbar when something new is possible, and /tidefall guide for the full picture.
- The goal: the Crown of the Tides, endless air and sight in the dark.
Every item with real stats and lore, in English or Spanish.
Advancements, the guide and the next step, always one look away.
️ Setup
- Put the jar in plugins/ and start the server. Tidefall writes its datapack (biomes and advancements) into your main world. Restart once and the dimension opens; the console and /tidefall doctor tell you when.
- Players need nothing: no mods, no resource pack, no client install.
- /tidefall doctor checks the datapack, biomes, advancements, world, generator and Multiverse in one message.
- Using Multiverse? Set the world's generator to Tidefall.

Configuration
config.yml covers the world (name, seed, custom biomes, how often dungeons and smaller structures appear), gates (frame blocks, allowed worlds), diving (refill rates, pressure damage, oxygen in normal oceans too), creatures (how many, how far, which ones), bosses (cooldown, health per extra player) and the dungeon reset time. Every option is commented and new ones are added automatically when you update. Messages are in lang/messages_en.yml and lang/messages_es.yml (MiniMessage format); copy one to add your own language.
Anonymous usage statistics
Tidefall uses PluginAnalytics so I can see which features are used and fix errors quickly, often before anyone reports them. It sends server software and versions, player counts, how Tidefall's features are used (gates lit, bosses beaten, items crafted), its config choices and its own errors and log lines.
- Never sent: player names, UUIDs, IP addresses, chat, inventories or world data. Players are an anonymous hash that is different on every server.
- Turn it off with enabled: false in plugins/PluginAnalytics/config.yml and restart.
- Exactly what is sent: pluginanalytics.dev/privacy
Requirements
- Paper (or a fork like Purpur) 1.21.4 or newer, including 26.x. Spigot/CraftBukkit and Folia are not supported.
- Java 21+ (Java 25 for Minecraft 26.x, as required by Paper)
- Optional: PlaceholderAPI. Works alongside Multiverse.
FAQ
Why does it need a restart? Minecraft only loads new biomes when the server starts. Tidefall installs them for you on the first start; after one restart the dimension opens with its own water colours. Until then, gates tell players to wait.
Do players need a resource pack or mods? No. Creatures are built from vanilla blocks and items use vanilla models.
Will creatures fill my world with entities? No. They exist only around divers and are never saved. There's a cap per player and for the whole world.
Can I use my own seed? Yes, set world.seed before the first start.
Bedrock players? Not supported yet: Geyser doesn't show display entities.
Is it tested? Every release runs 94 automated tests (terrain, structures, gates, oxygen, datapack, models, recipes, progress, combat, bosses, mounts, submersibles), and a test player plays it on real Paper 1.21.4 and 1.21.11 servers: lights a gate, dives, clears the Citadel, beats all three bosses, tames and rides a ray and pilots a submersible. It is also started on 26.3.
