ProtectionUncap

In vanilla Minecraft, protection enchantments stop helping at 80%. Every enchanted armor piece adds protection points, and the game caps the total at 20 points, which is 80% less damage. Everything above that is wasted, so Feather Falling 5 or Protection 5 armor from a custom enchanting plugin gives you nothing extra. ProtectionUncap replaces that calculation. The points per level stay exactly like in vanilla, only the cap is gone, or moved wherever you want it. ## How the points work | Enchantment | Points per level | Applies to | |---|---|---| | Protection | 1 | all damage it normally reduces | | Feather Falling | 3 | fall damage | | Fire Protection | 2 | fire, lava, magma blocks, campfires | | Blast Protection | 2 | explosions | | Projectile Protection | 2 | arrows and other projectiles | With the default config every point is 4% less damage, up to 100%. Feather Falling 4 boots plus Protection 4 on all four pieces give 12 + 16 = 28 points, so a fall does no damage at all. With vanilla rules the same armor stops at 80%. Armor points, Resistance and absorption hearts keep working like in vanilla. The plugin only changes damage that vanilla protection would reduce anyway, so starvation or the void stay untouched. ## Config ```yaml # how much damage reduction one protection point gives (vanilla: 4) percent-per-point: 4.0 # the highest reduction allowed (vanilla: 80, 100 = full immunity) max-reduction-percent: 100.0 # only touch these damage causes, empty = every cause the enchantments apply to # (e.g. [FALL] to only lift the cap for Feather Falling) causes: [] ``` If full immunity is too much for your server, set `max-reduction-percent` to something like 90. `/protectionuncap` reloads the config (permission `protectionuncap.reload`, op by default). ## Setup Drop the jar into your `plugins` folder and restart. Runs on Paper 1.21.4 or newer and its forks, Java 21. This is a beta. It was tested on Paper 26.2, on 26.3 only the server start was checked.
