Bedrock add-on listed for Minecraft 1.21–26.x (behavior + resource pack). File opened and checked on 23 Oct 2026; installs from the MC Bedrock Mods app on Android.
Auto-detects idle players, tags them AFK, protects them from damage and gives them a white outline you can see within 50 blocks, but never through walls.

AFK Detector: Auto Idle Tag & Protection
Standing still? You're protected. Everyone can see it.
Who is AFK on your server? AFK Detector notices when a player goes idle, gives them an AFK tag, makes them safe from damage and draws a white outline around them, like the glowing effect in Java, but without seeing through walls. 💤🛡️✨

Features
- Automatic AFK detection: players go AFK after 2 minutes without doing anything (you can change the time)
- AFK tag: AFK players get the
afktag, so you can use it in command blocks and selectors like@a[tag=afk] - [AFK] name tag: a grey [AFK] shows in front of the player's name
- Protection: AFK players take no damage from mobs, players, fire, lava, drowning and explosions
- White outline: AFK players glow white so you can find them fast
- No wallhack: the outline is hidden behind walls and only shows when you are 50 blocks or closer
- Chat messages: the server is told when someone goes AFK and when they come back
- Manual AFK: go AFK on purpose with one command
- Smart wake-up: a single push from a mob doesn't wake you, but walking, looking around or doing anything does
- Admin settings: change the AFK time and turn each feature on or off, saved in the world
- Multiplayer ready: every player is tracked on their own
How AFK is detected 💤
The pack checks every player twice a second. A player counts as active when they do any of this:
| Action | Counts as active |
|---|---|
| Moving | Walking, running, falling, swimming |
| Looking around | Turning the camera |
| Jumping, sneaking, sprinting | Any change in these |
| Hotbar | Changing the selected slot |
| Building and fighting | Breaking or placing blocks, hitting mobs or players, using items |
| Interacting | Opening chests, doors, talking to villagers |
| Chatting | Sending a message in chat |
If a player does none of these for 120 seconds, they go AFK. Any of these actions takes them out of AFK right away.
The white outline ✨
AFK players get a clean white outline around their body that works like the glowing effect in Java, with one big difference: you can't see it through walls.
- It only shows when you are 50 blocks or closer
- Blocks hide it, so nobody can use it to find players through the ground or a base
- It stays bright in dark caves and at night
- You don't see your own outline
- It is not shown for spectators, invisible players, sleeping players or players gliding or swimming
- Nobody can hit it, click it or collide with it
Protection 🛡️
While a player is AFK, they get Resistance V, Fire Resistance and Water Breathing. That means they take no damage from mobs, other players, fire, lava, drowning or explosions. The effects have no particles, so nothing looks different.
The protection stays on for about 3 seconds after waking up, so you are never hit the moment you come back.
Protection does not stop falling into the void or the /kill command.
Installation
- Download the
.mcaddonfile. - Open it with Minecraft Bedrock. It imports automatically.
- Create or edit a world and activate both the Behavior Pack and the Resource Pack.
- Load into your world. AFK detection starts right away.
Requires Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.60 or newer. If something doesn't work, turn on the Beta APIs experiment in your world settings.
Commands ⚙️
Commands use /scriptevent, so they need cheats turned on or operator permission. Everything else works without any command.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/scriptevent afk:toggle |
Puts you in or out of AFK |
/scriptevent afk:list |
Shows who is AFK |
/scriptevent afk:config |
Shows the current settings |
/scriptevent afk:time 120 |
Sets the seconds of idle time before AFK (10 to 3600) |
/scriptevent afk:set protection off |
Turns a feature on or off |
/scriptevent afk:help |
Shows all the commands |
Settings 🔧
Use /scriptevent afk:set <option> <on|off> with one of these options:
| Option | What it controls |
|---|---|
protection |
Damage protection for AFK players |
outline |
The white outline |
nametag |
The [AFK] in front of the name |
announce |
The chat messages when someone goes AFK or comes back |
All settings are saved in the world, so they stay after a restart.
Use the tag in your own commands 🏷️
AFK players have the afk tag for as long as they are AFK. Some ideas for servers and maps:
/execute as @a[tag=afk] run say I am AFK
/effect @a[tag=!afk] speed 10 0 true
/tellraw @a[tag=afk] {"rawtext":[{"text":"Wake up!"}]}
Tips
- Going to make a sandwich? Use
/scriptevent afk:toggleand you are protected right away. - Running a survival server? Lower the AFK time to 60 seconds so idle players are protected faster.
- Don't like the outline? Turn it off with
/scriptevent afk:set outline off. Everything else keeps working. - Use the
afktag in command blocks to make AFK rooms, auto kick systems or reward systems.
FAQ
Do I need any experimental features?
The pack uses the Scripting API. If something doesn't work, turn on the Beta APIs experiment in your world settings.
Do I need to activate the Resource Pack?
Yes. The white outline is in the Resource Pack, so without it nobody sees the outline.
Can players see the outline through walls?
No. Blocks hide it, and it only shows when you are 50 blocks or closer.
Can an AFK player be hurt?
Not by mobs, other players, fire, lava, drowning or explosions. Falling into the void and /kill still work.
Does it kick AFK players?
No. It only tags, protects and outlines them. You can build your own kick system with the afk tag.
Can I change the AFK time?
Yes. Use /scriptevent afk:time 300 to set it to 5 minutes, for example.
Does a mob pushing me wake me up?
No. One push is ignored. You wake up if you keep moving, look around or do something.
Does it work in multiplayer?
Yes. Every player has their own AFK state, and the settings are shared by the whole world.
Do I need cheats to go AFK?
No. You go AFK on your own after being idle. Cheats are only needed for the /scriptevent commands.
Does it work on mobile and console?
It works anywhere Bedrock supports add-ons with scripting.

Notes
- The outline is made for the normal player model. Players with slim arms may see a tiny difference, and a sneaking player's outline is a little taller.
- The outline is only created while someone is within 50 blocks, so it doesn't slow down your world.
- No particles or extra sounds are downloaded. The pack uses Minecraft's own sounds.
