Anvil Player Heads
Java mod listed for Minecraft 26.x. Downloads from the MC Java Mods app on Android.
Adds the ability to rename a minecraft:player_head in an anvil and update it to the corresponding player's skin. Requires a way to acquire the player_head…
⬇ Download on ModrinthThe general idea for this mod is to bring custom player heads into the game but without making them OP like it often feels when mobs drop their heads. It specifically uses the minecraft:player_head object which is not normally acquired in vanilla gameplay, thus allowing you to control rarity in your own way.
I personally use a crafting recipe from https://crafting.thedestruc7i0n.ca/ to convert zombie heads (obtained by killing a zombie with a charged creeper) into player heads, and then rename them in the anvil (incurring also a 1XP cost). I like the cost/payoff of this, but if you want to convert wither skeleton heads instead (which can be quite plentiful in your world via a farm), that's a choice you can make too. You can also just make a crafting recipe using materials like wheat and a pumpkin head or really anything you like.
This mod does not provide any crafting recipes by default, so that's something you'll have to add in addition to the mod to make it useful.
