CompanionPets
Tame mobs. Level up. Explore together.
Tame mobs. Level up. Explore together.
CompanionPets lets you tame mobs, level them up, unlock powerful skills, equip backpacks, and take your companions on adventures.
Create your own team of pets with configurable taming, skill trees, hunger, behavior modes, and permission-based limits.
Features
Vanilla-Style Taming
Shift + Right-click mobs with matching items to tame them. Examples include bones for wolves, fish for cats and ocelots, seeds for parrots, berries for foxes, and special items for more powerful mobs.
Taming chances, required items, item consumption, and health requirements can be configured for each mob.
Multiple Pets
Keep multiple pets and switch between them using the pet menu or /pet switch. The default limit is 5 pets and can be customized through configuration and permissions.
Levels and Skill Trees
Pets gain experience from kills and can level up to level 50. Choose between four skill trees:
- Universal
- Warrior
- Tank
- Porter
Improve health, damage, speed, regeneration, and backpack capacity.
Pet Backpacks
Give your pets extra storage with backpacks of up to 6 rows. Backpack contents can drop when a pet is recalled, switched, released, or dies. This behavior can be configured.
Hunger System
Pets get hungry over time. A starving pet loses damage and movement speed. Feed your companions by right-clicking them with food.
Behavior Modes
Choose how your pets behave:
- Friendly — never attacks.
- Normal — defends itself and helps you fight.
- Aggressive — attacks nearby monsters.
Peaceful mobs such as pigs, cows, sheep, chickens, rabbits, parrots, allays, bees, and horses cannot attack and do not have behavior settings.
Horses
Ride your pet horse. Its saddle, armor, and coat are saved between summons.
Owner-Safe Pets
Pet Wardens never apply Darkness to their owner. Pet Withers do not break blocks or hurt players.
Summon Cooldown
Recalling or losing a pet starts a configurable cooldown before another pet can be summoned or switched. The default is 60 seconds.
Custom Names
Rename pets using /pet name. Names support colors and gradients.
Pet Menu
Shift + right-click your pet to open its menu.
Fully Translatable
All messages, menus, and help texts are stored in messages.yml and support MiniMessage formatting.
Update Checker
Notifies the console and administrators when a new version is available on Modrinth.
