Spyro the Dragon (Custom Player Model)

Minecraft Java resource pack. Download on the author's site.

My rendition of Spyro the Dragon, from the games of the same name. This is one I'd spent a long time searching online and waiting for as a Custom Player Model after hearing about the CPM mod, and found nothing I could download for my game, much to my disappointment. So, I learned how to use CPM and BlockBench and created my own over the last couple months.

The model detail is somewhat above that of standard Minecraft skins, but not ultra high res or anything. I think it's believable at least. I'm new to modeling mostly; this is my first model of any type of character for a game. I used BlockBench for most of the modeling and the in-game Custom Player Models editor for animations. Unfortunately, some animations are a bit messed up; not sure what to do about them (list below).

Installation

Extract the .zip file to your Minecraft installation folder (~/.minecraft or %UserProfile%\.minecraft by default). You can delete Spyro_FootprintParticle.zip from resourcepacks if not using Footprint Particle mod (see below).

To use this you can use the Custom Player Models mod and load it with the Gestures menu (G by default), by choosing Models in the bottom left corner of the screen and then Spyro from the list on the left, click apply, and it should load for you. There is a "Spyro-NewWalk.cpm" and a "Spyro-OldWalk.cpm" file in the zip. The old walk version has the default walk animation like the Spyro games had where he bounds/skips around. The new walk animation is more similar to when walking slowly with the analog stick in the Spyro games, and ideally if you have a joystick/controller and Controlify/similar mod, you can use the Spyro-NewWalk.cpm model and the AutoHotkey script in the zip file (directions included) to control walking animation based on joystick walk speed. Also, you may want to delete the old/new walk version model file you are not using to avoid confusion selecting in-game (they will both show up as "Spyro").

Footprint Particle mod support (optional)
The included resource pack Zip file can be placed in the resourcepacks subfolder of your Minecraft installation. This will enable support for the Footprint Particle mod, which allows the footprints in snow, etc. to look like Spyro's instead of the square default ones (sadly I couldn't figure out a way to make all four legs leave them).

Enable the resource pack "Spyro_FootprintParticle.zip" in the Resource Packs menu in Settings (click the right facing arrow, order shouldn't matter). Open Footprint Particle's settings menu in Mods menu on the pause screen or title screen, and click the + next to "Custom Print Texture". Paste the exact text below in the new field that appears (it may just look like blank space below the button):

minecraft:player,Spyro
