Relight

A cinematic, performance-conscious Iris shaderpack for Minecraft 1.21.1–26.1.2 on Fabric and NeoForge.

Relight gives Minecraft a vibrant, natural lighting model while keeping render cost strictly bounded. Water flows with analytic wave equations, the sky features layered clouds and sun rays, blocks and items respond to physical materials (PBR), and players can enjoy colored hand light as well as gentle foliage and chain motion.

Highlights

• Animated Water: Geometric wave displacement, analytic normal vectors, depth absorption, edge-safe refraction, Fresnel reflections and sunlight glints.
• Atmosphere & Sky: Procedural cloud canopy with dynamic day/night palette, stars, weather darkening and distance fog.
• God Rays: Sun and moon rays marched through the shadow map at half resolution.
• Lighting & Color: Filtered shadows, contact ambient occlusion, warm block light, bloom, and soft screen-space bounce from visible colored light sources.
• Dynamic Hand Light: Native dual-hand item evaluation in Fabric and NeoForge. Soul torches emit cold blue light; regular torches glow warm amber.
• PBR & Materials: Full LabPBR 1.3 compliance with metal F0 albedo mapping, roughness decoding, and material AO. Built-in presets for vanilla blocks including iron, gold, copper, netherite, glass, ice and polished stone.
• Foliage Wind: Subtle swaying for grass, crops, saplings, flowers and leaves. Lower stems stay rooted, double-tall plants move seamlessly, and cast shadows sway in sync.
• Iris Settings: English and German configuration screens with Performance, Balanced and Quality profiles.

Companion Mod: Relight Companion

For extended client-side features that shaders cannot determine alone, install Relight Companion.

Its first feature is intelligent chain and lantern topology: it verifies whether a vertical chain is truly free, allowing it and any attached lantern to sway together as a rigid pendulum. If a solid block, lateral attachment or lower obstruction is detected, the chain stays locked in place.

Relight Companion is the official, lightweight client extension for Relight and is designed to introduce further client-side visual interactions and shader bridges in future updates.

Profiles

All profiles preserve animated water, material reflections, hand light, god rays and foliage wind.

Installation

1. Install Fabric or NeoForge, along with Iris and Sodium matching your Minecraft version.
2. Place Relight-v1.0.0.zip in your shaderpacks directory.
3. Open Options → Video Settings → Shader Packs and activate Relight.
4. Optional: place Relight-Companion-v1.0.0.jar in your client mods directory.
