Why Vystorm Chat?
- Menus for everyone. Switch channels with one click, hide the ones you don't read, write private messages in a dialog, manage your ignore list, and staff mute or set slow mode from the moderation page.
- Private channels stay private. Only the channels you list (default: global) stay in the server chat where DiscordSRV, chat bridges and loggers see them. Staff, party, faction, local and all other channels are delivered by Vystorm Chat itself. A message that cannot be processed goes back to the sender instead of leaking into global chat.
- Never lags the server. Chat runs on Paper's async chat thread with snapshots of positions and ranks; files are written in the background and atomically, and broken files are kept as .corrupt-<time> instead of being overwritten.
- Safe formatting. PlaceholderAPI results are inserted as plain text, so a nickname can never add clicks, hovers or colours. Players format their own messages only with permissions, and click or hover tags are never parsed.
Channels
- Eight channels ready to go: global, local (radius), world, trade, staff, party, city and faction. Add as many own channels in config.yml as you like.
- Everything per channel: format, tag, colour, read and write permission, world list, radius, cooldown, an optional price per message (Vault), opt-in or auto-join.
- Scopes: global, world, local, party, city, faction, and region: everyone in the same Vystorm Core region (city, estate, arena ...).
- Switch fast. One click in the chat menu, /ch <channel>, or the channel's own command (/g, /l, /sc ...); /g hello sends just one message there.
- Quick prefixes. !hello goes to global, #hello to staff, $hello to trade, without switching.
- Hide channels you don't want to read (menu right-click or /vsettings). A "nobody heard you" hint appears when no one was in range of a local message.
Names, items and mentions
- MiniMessage formats with placeholders, name formats per permission, Vault prefix, suffix and group (works with LuckPerms) and PlaceholderAPI %placeholders%.
- Hover card on every name: rank, world, play time, party, city, faction. Click the name to message the player. Timestamps on hover for players who want them.
- Showcase. [item] shows the item in your hand with its full tooltip, [inv] a button that opens a read-only copy of your inventory, [pos] clickable coordinates.
- Mentions. @name and plain names are highlighted for the mentioned player with sound and action bar; each player can switch the sound off. @everyone and @here with permission.
- Links are clickable for players with permission and for allowed domains.
- Player formatting by permission: colours, hex colours, bold/italic, magic, gradients and & codes, each with its own permission.
Private messages
- /msg, /r, a sound for the receiver, click a name to answer.
- /ignore with a menu: ignored players disappear from chat and private messages.
- "Allow private messages" switch in /vsettings; vanished players count as offline.
- /socialspy for staff: private messages and spy channels (local, party, city, faction by default).
Moderation
- Anti-spam: the same message again, too many messages, shouting (lowered or blocked), "heeeeeeey" shortened.
- Word filter: whole words in any case, also spaced out ("b a d") and with look-alikes ("b4d"); regular expressions for anything else; censor or block.
- Link filter for players without permission: links, bare domains and IP addresses are censored or blocked, allowed domains stay.
- Mutes with time and reason, also for offline players: /mute <player> [30m|2h|7d] [reason]. Muted players cannot use /me, /msg, /pc, /vtrade ... either.
- /clearchat, /slowmode for all channels or one, staff notes about blocked messages and mutes.
- Chat log: logs/chat-DATE.log, a new file per day and when a file gets big, old files deleted after 30 days.
Menus and the Vystorm family
- Chat menu (/channel, /vchat, or Vystorm Core main menu → Community → Chat): channels, private message dialog, reply, ignore list, settings, social spy and a moderation page with clear chat, one-click slow mode and the mute list.
- Player menu. Sneak + right-click a player: message, ignore and (staff) mute.
- /vsettings → Chat: mention sound, private message sound, timestamps, allow private messages, social spy and a show/hide switch per channel.
- Works with other Vystorm plugins (all optional): Core's /vtrade runs through the trade channel with the same format, filters and mutes; the party channel and Vystorm Parties' /pc are one chat; city chat for VystormCityClaim members, faction chat for Vystorm-Factions members.
- Every config value can be edited in game with /vadmin config. English and German texts; each player gets their language.
