MaxiHalloween - All-in-one Halloween plugin

Drop it in, set two dates, and your server gets a whole spooky season. When it's over, it cleans up after itself.

Candy, tricks, a candy witch with cosmetics, blood moons with a boss fight, and something watching from the dark. Everything starts on its own on your start date and stops on your end date. After that, every candy, cosmetic and NPC is removed, as if the plugin was never there.

No resource pack, no NPC plugin and no packet libraries are needed.

⚡ Set up in 30 seconds

1. Drop the jar into plugins/ and restart.
2. In config.yml, set your start and end date and list the worlds you want the plugin to be active in.
3. Stand at spawn and run /halloween witch set to place Wanda the Candy Witch.

✔ Done. The season starts and ends by itself.

✨ Features at a glance (all configurable)

• 🌫️ Spooky nights. Longer nights, drifting mist, creepy sounds behind you, bats flying past and distant lightning.
• 🎃 Pumpkin-headed monsters. Zombies and skeletons spawn wearing pumpkins and jack o'lanterns (they still burn in the sun).
• 🍬 Candy. Earned by playing and from monsters. Eat it for a treat... or a trick.
• 🧙 Wanda the Candy Witch. Trade candy for cosmetics and gadgets.
• 🌕 Blood moons. Every few nights: stronger monsters, a kill goal, and a boss.
• 🐴 The Headless Horseman. A giant boss with pumpkin bombs, minions and a charge attack.
• 🗳️ Vote to skip. Players can cancel a blood moon together with one click.
• 👻 Jumpscares and a mysterious presence, controlled by staff from an admin panel.
• 🧹 Clean ending. After the end date, everything the plugin added is removed automatically.
• 🛡️ Never ruins progress. Event monsters break no blocks and only hurt players. Pets, villagers, builds and items are always safe.

🍬 Candy and Trick-or-Treat

Players get a piece of candy every 20 minutes of play (players who stand AFK don't earn any). Pumpkin-headed monsters, blood moon monsters and the Horseman drop candy too.

There are 6 kinds: Pumpkin Toffee, Eyeball Gummy, Ghost Marshmallow, Witch's Lollipop, Bat Wing Chocolate and Candy Corn. Right-click to eat one:

Tricks are scary or silly, never deadly. The risky ones (blinding, launching) are skipped when you're near lava, falling or fighting monsters.

🧙 Wanda the Candy Witch

Right-click Wanda to trade candy for cosmetics and gadgets. Cosmetics only show in your Halloween world(s).

Gadgets are completely harmless. They don't do damage or knockback, and they can't break or trigger anything. Lost one? Players can take a new one for free from /halloween cosmetics. All prices can be changed in the config.

🌕 Blood Moons

Every 3 to 5 nights (configurable), the moon turns full and the screen edges glow red.

• ⚔️ Monsters are faster, stronger and tougher, and they spawn around players, but only in darkness and on natural ground, never inside lit builds or near beds.
• 🎯 Players have 10 minutes to reach a kill goal that scales with the number of players.
• ⏸️ Time is frozen at midnight and nobody can sleep.
• ☀️ Miss the goal and the sun rises. Reach it and...

🐴 The Headless Horseman

A gigantic horseman with a jack o'lantern head appears near the players (but never too far from spawn), and his coordinates are announced in chat.

• 🎃 Pumpkin bombs that explode without breaking blocks
• 💀 Pumpkin Squires he summons to fight with him
• 🐎 A charge that knocks players back
• 😈 A haunting laugh that darkens and slows everyone nearby
• 😡 Enraged below half health: faster and more aggressive

Killing him ends the night, and everyone who helped earns candy, money and XP. His health, damage per hit cap and damage multiplier are all configurable, so he stays a challenge even on servers with heavily geared players.

🗳️ Vote to stop

Not in the mood tonight? When a blood moon rises, a clickable [✖ VOTE TO STOP] button appears in chat. If every online player clicks it within 20 seconds, the blood moon is cancelled and the sun comes up. Monsters only start spawning once the vote has failed, so nobody has to fight while voting.

👁️ Something else

⚠️ Spoiler for server owners: don't show this to your players!

Herobrine - the classic one, white eyes and all, as a real player-like NPC with no name tag. Staff can make him haunt a player for a few minutes. Only that player can see or hear him: anyone standing right next to them sees nothing. He never says a word, never hurts anyone and never touches a block.

During a haunt he appears now and then:

• 👀 Watching, perfectly still, far away. Stare at him or walk closer and he's gone... and sometimes, he runs at you instead.
• 🫥 Right behind you. A breath. Turn around fast enough and you catch him for a split second.
• 🏃 The rush. The lights around you die, a heartbeat speeds up... then he sprints at you and bursts into a storm of bats, smoke and screams one block from your face.
• 📺 Flickering, closer every time he appears.

He never does anything startling while the player is near lava, falling or fighting.

👻 Admin panel and jumpscares

/halloween admin opens one menu to run the whole season:

• Start or stop a blood moon, or summon the Horseman right away
• Reload the config, move Wanda, see the season status
• Click any online player to send them a jumpscare, start a Herobrine haunt or give them candy

🛡️ Built to never ruin anyone's progress

• 🌍 Only your chosen overworld world(s). The Nether, the End and other worlds (such as dungeon worlds from other plugins) are never touched.
• 🧱 No block is ever changed. Explosions break nothing, and doors, crops, item frames, paintings, armor stands and minecarts are all protected.
• 🐶 Event monsters only fight players. Pets, villagers, animals and golems can't be hurt or targeted by them.
• 🎒 No lost items. Event monsters can't pick up dropped items, and name tags or leads can't be wasted on them.
• 🍬 Candy can't be crafted with or composted.

🧹 When Halloween is over

After the end date, MaxiHalloween switches to clean-up mode by itself:

• Every candy and gadget is deleted from inventories, ender chests, chests, shulker boxes, bundles, item frames and the ground
• Wanda leaves, and all cosmetics and pumpkin helmets disappear
• Players who were offline are cleaned the next time they log in

/halloween cleanup status tells you when it's safe to remove the jar. Optionally, /halloween cleanup deepscan <radius> also cleans chests in areas nobody has visited since. Keep your config for next year: just change the dates.

🧪 Testing before the season starts

Set season.override: active and run /halloween reload. Everything turns on right away, so you can try candy, Wanda, blood moons and the Horseman. Set it back to none when you're done.

• Vault (optional), only needed for the money treat and the Horseman's money reward

ℹ️ Good to know

• No resource pack is needed. Everything uses vanilla items, sounds and particles.
• The red blood moon tint needs Fancy graphics or better.
• Cosmetics and gadgets only work in your Halloween world(s).
