UPDATE 4.8.2
FIX BUG durability
UPDATE 4.8.1
⚠ Requires Minecraft Bedrock 26.50 or newer (26.52+ to keep achievements). No experiments needed.
🏆 Achievements
- Achievement friendly again on 26.52+. Minecraft 26.50/26.51 disabled achievements for every external add-on; Mojang reverted that in 26.52.
- Uses the latest stable Script API (@minecraft/server 2.10.0), no Beta APIs.
🛡 Shield
- Right-click to raise or lower the shield, Java style. Bedrock can't tell add-ons that right-click is being held on vanilla items, so it toggles: press once to raise, press again to lower. Works with the shield in your main hand, or in your off hand while holding a sword, axe, tool or nothing (with an empty hand, aim at a block). Sneaking still blocks too.
- The shield pose shows in first person and third person.
- No knockback while blocking. Blocks players, mobs and arrows coming from the front.
- Blocking slows you down to 20% speed, like Java.
- Axe hits disable the shield for 5 seconds, and heavy hits cost shield durability.
- The shield lowers by itself when you attack or switch items.
⚔ Damage now matches Java Edition
- Java charge formula: damage × (0.2 + 0.8 × charge²). Spam-clicking no longer does almost nothing.
- Fixed hits sometimes doing only ~2 damage.
- Exact Java stats for every weapon and tool (see the table below).
- Sharpness, Smite and Bane of Arthropods scale with charge. Weakness is −4 per level.
- Fire Aspect and Knockback enchantments work.
- Sprint hits knock back further. Critical hits need a charged attack.
- Java sweep: 1 damage to mobs right next to the target, on charged sword hits.
- Armor, Protection and Resistance are handled by the game, with no more double reduction.
- The item tooltip shows the Java damage, including enchantments.
✨ Animations
- Java cooldown animation on every sword, axe, pickaxe, shovel, hoe and the mace: the weapon dips after a hit and rises back up as it recharges.
- Java-style item swing.
🔧 Compatibility
- Skills from other add-ons deal damage again.
- Player skins and vanilla player animations are no longer changed by the add-on.
- For testing:
/scriptevent jpvp:debugshows each hit's damage and the shield state in chat.

Update v4.1.0
(Achievements Friendly)
Java PvP Core — Update v4.0.0
📦 Want it to work with weapons from other addons, no tags needed? → Install PvP Weapon Support — automatically detects weapons from any other addon.
What's New
This release focuses on API compatibility fixes and opens up integration with other addons — combat formulas are unchanged.
Critical fix (was crashing the entire addon)
- Removed the
CommandPermissionLevelimport — this export doesn't exist in some resolved@minecraft/serverversions when playing alongside other addons, which causedmain.jsto crash on the very first line, running nothing at all (losing all damage/cooldown/sweep). Now uses a raw numeric permission level instead, no longer dependent on that export. - Bumped the
@minecraft/serverdependency from1.15.0to2.1.0— the old version was missing thebeforeEvents.entityHurtAPI in some world configurations, preventing the core from cancelling vanilla damage to compute Java-style combat. The new version ensures it resolves to a build with the required API. - All critical event/command registration blocks are now wrapped in try/catch — if any single API is missing in the world's resolved version, only that one feature is lost, instead of crashing the entire addon.
Third-party addon integration support
- Added the
jpvp:clearscriptevent — lets other addons (e.g. the PvP Weapon Support extension) actively release their override when a weapon no longer needs special handling, preventing stale data from getting stuck. - The
jpvp:overridescriptevent payload now accepts an optionalisSwordfield — lets external addons explicitly declare whether a weapon counts as a sword (sweep attack) instead of relying solely on theminecraft:is_swordtag, which many custom weapons don't have.
Update v2.1
Redraw the cooldown bar
JavaPvP Core — Update v2.0
Add more tag:
🔥 Fire Sweep (jpvp:sweep:fire)
Add this tag to any item with minecraft:is_sword. When a fully-charged sweep attack lands, the sweep visual will display a flame-colored orange-red particle instead of the default gray slash, and all mobs caught in the sweep will be set on fire for 3 seconds. Pairs well with fire-themed weapons or custom flame boss gear.
⚔️ Weapon-Shaped Cooldown Icons
Three new tags let you customize the cooldown icon displayed on the action bar to match the weapon type:
jpvp:tcd:sword — A diagonal pixel-art sword icon. Charges from hilt to tip, shifting from gray to a golden gleam when a target is in range.
jpvp:tcd:axe — A broad-headed axe with a long handle. Charges from bottom to top, turning icy blue when an enemy is detected nearby.
jpvp:tcd:reddagger — A wide-bladed dao in deep red tones. Charges from handle to edge, flaring bright red when a target enters your crosshair
⚔ Java PvP Core v1.0
Java Edition combat mechanics — rebuilt for Bedrock
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Java PvP Core brings the full Java Edition combat system to Bedrock — attack cooldown, damage scaling based on charge percentage, sweep attack, shield blocking, and more. Built as a core addon so other addons can integrate directly without rewriting combat logic from scratch.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
FEATURES
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
- Attack Cooldown — Custom glyph texture cooldown bar (16 frames). Automatically changes color when an enemy is in range.
- Damage Scaling — Java Edition formula: damage × (0.2 + 0.8 × charge²). Attacking before fully charged deals reduced damage, just like Java.
- Edition: Minecraft Bedrock
- File type: .mcpack or .mcaddon
- Minecraft versions listed: 26.40, 26.50, 26.10
- How to install: Download the .mcpack or .mcaddon file. → Open it — Minecraft imports it. → In your world: Behavior Packs → Available → Activate, then the same under Resource Packs.
- Where to get it: In MCModsHub, or directly above on this page.
Install steps are the general flow for this file type — How to install Minecraft Bedrock addons & mods walks through it step by step.
- Pack type: .mcaddon — behaviour and resource pack in one file
- Complete pack — everything it depends on is inside the file
- Download size: 245 KB
- Download link checked 18 Jun 2026 — working
These come from our own check of the pack file, not from the source page.
