Dinosaur Saga is an add-on for Minecraft Bedrock that adds many completely new mechanics and is compatible with any other add-on.

We based this project on several interesting systems, taking inspiration from Monster Hunter for weapons, armor skills, and creature mechanics.

Weapons and Combat System

Weapons are designed so that any player who masters them can become invincible. For this reason, we added the Sprint Roll. This is a way to dodge attacks, activated by jumping and running, but only when you have a weapon equipped.

Sets and Set Skills

We also added sets and set skills.

Here’s how it works: there will be various skills, each with a maximum level. Skills add up points depending on your equipment. (You can check which skills exist and which gear provides them using the Scroll menu.)

Equipment slots considered are:

• Helmet
• Chestplate
• Leggings
• Boots
• Main Hand

Example: Let’s use the skill More Health as an example. Its maximum level is 4. Each level grants one level of the Health Boost effect. If a player has a helmet that adds +1 and boots that add +2, the player will have More Health level 3. It is cumulative.

This special item allows:

• Accessing the help menu
• Viewing player skills
• Checking information about items (where to obtain them, etc.)

The player starts with this item when entering the world, but it can also be crafted with Special Leather.

The Scroll shows the active skills and which gear increases them, along with information about current equipment.

Another amazing feature is the Help Menu, where you can check information about:

• All existing skills
• Existing items and where to find them
• Weapons and armor

What makes this even better is that it includes translation to many languages!

Creatures and Systems

Megaloceros

A powerful neutral herbivore that flees from carnivores. It won’t attack the player naturally, but if the player stays close to it for several seconds, it will become aggressive and attack.

• Can be passively tamed with apples
• Can be equipped with a saddle
• Has attacks available with the control lance

 

 

 

 

 

 

Albertosaurus

A fearsome jungle beast that lives in packs. Sharp teeth, powerful stomps, and an insatiable hunger.

• Possesses push attacks and high health
• Retreats to its habitat when low on health
• Can lose its tail

 

 

 

Tylosaurus proriger

A marine beast with sharp teeth. Attacks players when hungry.

• Very high health and damage
• Can be tamed by shooting weakness arrows (bow or crossbow)
• Feeds on fish

Hunter Weapons

Hunter weapons are tools created to defeat any enemy. There are currently 6 types:

• Katana
• Great Sword
• Dual Blades
• Spear
• Hammer
• Automatic Gun

Katana

A short-range weapon, simple yet powerful in the right hands. Builds up a progressive charge while fighting, which is lost if you stop attacking.

• Samurai Charge: each level grants additional damage (amount depends on the weapon).
• Kenjutsu: sequential cuts on the last enemy hit, based on the accumulated charge level. Works even at a distance.
• Extra Ability: applies slowness to the enemy depending on the charge level when using Kenjutsu.

The katana offers good mobility, a light backstep move, and strong offensive power.

Hammer

A short-range heavy weapon focused on powerful strikes, capable of knocking out enemies after accumulating KO points.

• First Charge: a blunt strike that deals heavy damage and 2 KO points (applies automatically if performed while jumping).
• Second Charge: a spinning area strike that launches creatures, deals damage, and adds 3 drowsiness points.
• Third Charge: a devastating area strike that applies drowsiness, deals heavy damage, and adds 5 KO points.

Despite being heavy, it has decent mobility and a very useful backstep.

Great Sword

A short-range heavy weapon that deals area damage. Has three main charges:

• First Charge: blunt strike dealing heavy damage.
• Second Charge: stronger attack that deals more damage.
• Third Charge: devastating attack dealing massive damage and pushing enemies far away.

Its mobility is excellent compared to other heavy weapons, and its quick charge makes it very versatile.

Spear

A short-range aerial weapon, powerful and recommended for skilled warriors. Lets the player stay airborne while attacking.

• Upward Thrust: propels the player upward.
• Aerial Thrust: midair propulsion that deals area damage.

Offers high mobility, speed, and a dynamic aerial combat style.
While airborne and attacking, the player is immortal.

Dual Blades

A very agile short-range weapon, ideal for assassins. Each attack deals base damage and an additional strike for half damage. Generates a constant charge while fighting, but it quickly fades if you stop attacking.

• Demonic Frenzy: each attack increases a stack that grants half a second of immunity and adds 2 extra cuts per level.
• Death Charge: a forward dash that generates multiple slashes, scaling with Frenzy level.
• Extra Ability: each level slightly increases the player’s speed.

Dual Blades provide high mobility, light backstep, and constant speed—perfect for assassins or demons.

Automatic Gun

A ranged weapon with three main attacks:

• Quick Shot: fast, long-range shot with no recoil, low damage.
• Heavy Shot: lethal shot that pierces enemies, pushes them back, and deals high damage.
• Special Shot: a powerful shot that applies a special effect on the enemy for several seconds while dealing heavy damage.

It has good mobility and a very fast backstep, though with a noticeable cooldown.

Current Sets

• Bone Set: easy to craft, low damage.
• Albertosaurus Set: includes weapon skills.

Current Armors

• Leather Advanced Armor: leather armor for hunters, offers good effects but low protection.
• Bone Advanced Armor: special bone armor, well-balanced between positive effects and protection.
• Albertosaurus Armor: crafted with Albertosaurus parts, grants the Albertosaurus Hunger skill.

Other Important Features

• Herb: medicinal herb found in forests, used to create healing potions.
• Corpse System: kill a creature and strike its body to obtain tissues, bones, and other drops.
• Primitive Attack System: use the Control Lance to activate a special attack when mounted on a tamed creature
