The addon affects standard pets (wolf and cats). Your textures will work with this addon. You can also activate the addon in an existing world.

List of changes:
- pets avoid explosion creepers (distance 5)
- pets avoid lava,fire,magma, campfire (distance 1)
- wolves attack monsters at a distance of 8 (excluded creeper,piglin, enderman)
- the wolf can change the target of the attack
- teleportation fix
instructions:
1)download
2)run Minecraft
3)minimize the game
4)open the downloaded file using Minecraft
5)wait for installation
6)restart Minecraft
7) in the world settings activate the mod in the behavior packs section
