Resonance strikes
A dynamic combat utility that rewards precision, movement, and momentum by turning your critical hits into chain-reacting shockwaves.
I don't know my version

📖 Overview
Resonance strikes introduces a combo-driven area-of-effect (AoE) mechanic to Minecraft's combat. By landing consecutive critical strikes on a specific type of mob, you generate resonance. This energy echoes across nearby targets of the same species, distributing magic damage to multiple enemies at once.
⚔️ Core mechanics
1. Critical resonance
When you land a critical hit (striking an enemy while falling or mid-air) on any non-player entity, the impact triggers a shockwave. Nearby mobs of the exact same type (within a 16-block radius) will instantly take magic damage equal to the damage dealt to the primary target.
2. The Combo system
Every successful critical hit on a mob type increments your combo counter for that specific species, up to a maximum Combo of 16.
- Combo count = Targets affected: At Combo 1, only 1 nearby mob is affected. At Combo 16, up to 16 nearby mobs will receive the echoing magic damage simultaneously.
- Combos are tracked per-mob-type. Building a combo on zombies will not carry over to creepers.
3. Dynamic decay
Maintaining your flow is essential. Your combo does not vanish instantly; instead, it decays gradually over time based on your current intensity. The higher your combo, the faster you must strike to maintain it.
| Combo level | Grace period before decay |
|---|---|
| Combo 1 | 16 seconds |
| Combo 5 | 12 seconds |
| Combo 10 | 7 seconds |
| Combo 15 | 2 seconds |
| Combo 16 | 1 second |
⚠️ Note: If the grace period expires, your combo level decreases by 1 rather than resetting to 0 completely.
📊 Mechanics reference
| Feature | Behavior / Value |
|---|---|
| Activation requirement | Critical hits only (attacker must be descending, not on ground/climbing/swimming) |
| Damage type | Magic damage (ignores standard physical armor calculations) |
| Maximum range | 16 blocks from the primary target |
| Maximum combo | 16 stacks (affects up to 16 additional targets) |
| Target filter | Identical entity types only (e.g., zombie ➔ zombie; cow ➔ cow) |
| Exclusions | Player-to-player damage does not trigger resonance. Magic damage itself cannot trigger secondary resonances to prevent loops. |
⚙️ Technical details & Compatibility
