Hi people, say welcome to the life gem addon! This addon essentially provides the need of purpose in emerald. It does this by increasing the value of the emerald by adding other elements to it
You can make Life Gem
by crafting 4 of it with 8 emeralds and 1 life essence
. And you can craft life essence with 5 experience bottle and 4 glowstone. Don't worry about crafting recipes since they will be findable in recipe book.

Protection Durability Effect
Helmet 3 (1.5 Bars) 300 Night Vision
Chestplate 8 (4 Bars) 450 Health Boost II

Boots 3 (1.5 Bars) 380 Speed II
Foods:
Nutrition Saturation Effects
Life Gem Apple 4 (2 Bars) 9.4 Absorption I 140 Seconds
Regeneration II 8 Seconds
Village Hero II 300 Seconds
Enc. Life Gem Apple 4 (2 Bars) 9.4 Absorption IV 140 Seconds
Regeneration II 25 Seconds

Apart from these there are evil essence 
and good essence
which is crafted with life essence. These essences are important part to craft mob eggs. All recipes are in recipe book.
