Vintage Wilds Modpack (1.20.1) – Harsh Survival, Cozy Living

Vintage Wilds Modpack is a survival-focused Minecraft modpack inspired by Vintage Story, TerraFirmaCraft, and elements of Rebirth of the Night, while staying as close as possible to vanilla Minecraft.

The design philosophy is simple: challenging to survive, comfortable to live in. Gameplay avoids excessive grind and unfair mechanics, focusing instead on meaningful progression and immersive systems.

Core Gameplay Overview

• Age-based progression
  • Start with primitive technology
  • Unlock new mechanics as you advance through distinct Ages
  • Progression is guided and structured, not rushed
• Early survival is hands-on
  • No tree punching
  • No wooden or stone tools at the start
  • Begin with flint tools only

In-World Crafting (Less GUI)

• Craft directly in the world instead of relying on menus
• Key systems include:
  • Pottery system using clay for early storage
  • Fire bricks to build your first furnace
  • Crafting Workspace and Primitive Crafting Table instead of the vanilla crafting table

Smithing & Metalworking

• Primitive metallurgy progression:
  • Smelt ores in a Primitive Smelter
  • Maintain correct temperatures
  • Pour molten metal into molds (ingots, tool heads, blades)
  • Hot items can damage the player
  • Use a Forge to shape final tools

Crafting Table Unlock

• The vanilla crafting table is not available at the start
• Unlocked later through progression
• Once unlocked:
  • Many customized and rebalanced recipes become available

Farming & Food Systems

• Realistic farming mechanics:
  • Farmland consumes water over time
  • Water is finite and must be managed
  • Aqueducts can be built for irrigation
• Food preservation:
  • Use Farmer’s Delight cabinets
  • Food lasts longer when stored properly
